Exhibit Review: Harry Potter, at the Museum of Science and Industry | The Museumist

https://museumist.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/exhibit-review-harry-potter-at-the-museum-of-science-and-industry

Judgy thoughts about museumy things. Infinite Variety →. Exhibit Review: Harry Potter, at the Museum of Science and Industry. July 15, 2009. As a relatively recent college graduate and (fingers crossed) a future museum professional, I probably shouldn’t be admitting this. But what is the internet for if not shameful confessionals? So how does Harry Potter: The Exhibition measure up? So what’s missing? Nothing, and that’s a shame. Just off the top of my head, I can think of three different ways to work th...

Judgy thoughts about museumy things. De Young: Yves Saint Laurent, plus a little newsflash. Exhibit Review: Harry Potter, at the Museum of Science and Industry →. February 22, 2009. I haven’t had a chance to really delve into the Chicago museum scene, but a quick walk through the Art Institute of Chicago. Now, granted, there are only a few more days left to February, but that still leaves a little bit of time to check it out without paying a dime. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Judgy thoughts about museumy things. Here it seemed that everyone was sort of alone more:” Robert Frank and “The Americans”. Something small →. De Young: Yves Saint Laurent, plus a little newsflash. February 1, 2009. Here, though, without further ado, is my review of the De Young’s special retrospective on legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. But enough about me – on to the review! So low class. So Kemper, in the way of the daring YSL woman (so sayeth the text box) simply took off her pants...

Judgy thoughts about museumy things. Newer posts →. So, Museumist, tell me about yourself. December 8, 2008. The San Francisco Bay Area is chock-full of wonderful museums just waiting to be visited. I’m going to be doing my darned best to explore them, posting here about which exhibits do the job, which could use some work, and which simply can’t be missed. From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. The Museumist: an Introduction. What we're doing here. Newer posts →. Blog at WordPress.com.

I heard you were coming so I baked you a cake: April 2010

http://shoshanimal.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 15, 2010. Semper Gumby: always flexible. Anyway, I'm only two episodes in so I'm sure my appreciation for the miniseries will become more complex and reflective as I make my way through, but I just thought it had to be said now: Generation Kill is FANTASTIC, and anyone who isn't watching it needs to start right now. Oh, and one more thing: this is Ray, my favorite character so far. He got burned by an illegal camp stove that one of the other Marines was using to make espresso! So occasion...

Wednesday, November 17, 2010. The turduckin of cakes. I think this might be a challenge. But I also think I might vomit if this comes anywhere near my kitchenaid mixer. Friday, February 12, 2010. Why I love my job, reason #5,021:. Ten years later the leader of the cult, Zar Adusht-Hanish, was arrested on charges of "unprintable" acts against five children in Los Angeles, so unfortunately the story becomes much more serious. But still. SUN-WORSHIPPERS. Young boys with excessive amounts of money! It reads like a late 19th century pulp novel, only it's my morning. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I heard you were coming so I baked you a cake: Stupidity, atrocious calumny, infamous wickedness!

http://shoshanimal.blogspot.com/2010/08/stupidity-atrocious-calumny-infamous.html

Monday, August 16, 2010. Stupidity, atrocious calumny, infamous wickedness! Google Translate is my new favorite toy. As I type I am sitting in Winterthur's rare book room and (carefully) flipping my way through La Mode Nouvelle, a French fashion and political periodical printed in 1832. I'm looking for early 1830s fashion plates in order to compare the styles against French paper dolls from 1822 for a paper that I have due on Friday (oh, graduate school! Somehow I think something was lost in translation.

I heard you were coming so I baked you a cake: The road is my middle name

http://shoshanimal.blogspot.com/2011/01/road-is-my-middle-name.html

Thursday, January 20, 2011. The road is my middle name. And the cupcake truck. even me, hater of the frou-frou cupcake trend, was charmed! And the shopping - I have never so badly wanted a pair of cowboy boots as I did during the thirty minutes we spent perusing the shelves of Allen's Boots. Obviously, these shoes and I are meant to be - I just have to dig up a spare six hundred bucks somewhere. Easy-peasy, right? Even the store signage was amazing! Its a nice day for a white wedding. http://shoshanimal.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 12, 2010. Return to the Second City. Essays are finished, my sketchbook filled with drawings of questionable quality has been turned in, and I've worked very hard to stop thinking about the rococo armchair I misidentified on an exam. I woke up this morning in a tiny bedroom under a flight of stairs, looking out on a snow-covered street and thinking, "thank goodness I have my snowboots," and that can only mean one thing: I'm back in Chicago, baby!
