Monday, March 19, 2012. Iditarod Update #23 - Red Lantern Awarded. The 2012 Iditarod is over! At 2:57am Alaska time, Monday, March 19th, Jan Steves crossed under the burled arch in Nome, to take the Red Lantern. Her training mentor Bob Chlupach finished about 2 minutes ahead of her, as the two teams have been running together the entire race. 74-year old Dan Seavey finished Sunday morning, greeted by his son, Mitch (7th place) and grandson Dallas (1st place). I'm a huge stickler for making sure dogs get rewarded for doing good things - in fact, I find most people don't reward anywhere near enough for my liking.
