May 23, 2010 – 7:37 am. Art by IRA JOEL HABER. Words by PETRA WHITELEY. The dialogue of hardened hands. Is spoken through the cracks in skin,. The body is the night of glass with horizons sharpening. The dialogue of darkened eyes. Is stillness of afternoons, the heavy sound of sun,. Hanging from dried mouth – the nails of mind, weighing. Time’s weighing down the drumming. Heart’s monologue and its own answers of blood. In the fast, tight fist of light and its prolonged suffocating absence. I sit on the b...

July 10, 2010 – 7:05 am. WARSAW MOON: PART FOUR. By Paul D. Brazill. Dark dreams and worse memories lapped at the shore of Krystyna’s sleep until she awoke drowning in sweat and stained by sour memories. It took her a moment to adjust to the surroundings; her bedroom looked unfamiliar in the wan light. Or maybe she was imagining it. Her sleep was becoming increasingly fitful, her days spectral. Guilty conscience, her mother back in Komorow used to say when her father couldn’t sleep. It was always...Befor...

February 20, 2011 – 8:41 am. 8220;Solid Comfort,” by Sarah Bloom; cover photo from FLASHDRIVE). At the urging of Carrie Clevenger, I recently posted the material I’d requested last year for a project called FLASHDRIVE. There were a few, well, speedbumps (sorry) that hindered its being published–none of which bear relating. The important thing is, Carrie pushed me to bring FLASHDRIVE to light, when I wasn’t sure I would do anything further with disenthralled. Has been publishing first-timers. I rememb...

SPECIAL: BRUCE BROWN | disenthralled
https://disenthrallme.wordpress.com/2010/10/27/special-bruce-brown
October 27, 2010 – 10:57 am. Oct 28, 2010. The only light beside the rising half-moon was a bare sixty watt bulb dangling on a socket cord from the camper’s canopy. She could see the gray outline of trees, but the quarry below had become an engulfing black pit. Poe lit a match, cupping orange flame to his cigarette. He narrowed his eyes, taking a long drag and blowing smoke through his teeth. He snuffed the match with two fingers. Is there a crane out there? She motioned with a wave. Not like the other?

Are we there yet? | Graeme Reynolds's Blog
https://graemereynolds.wordpress.com/are-we-there-yet
Graeme Reynolds's Blog. 8211;dark tales from a twisted mind–. Are we there yet? Jack glanced at the rear view mirror at the two girls in the back seat. Sarah was playing a videogame while Josie’s brow was furrowed. Are we there yet? Not yet, soon. I need to go to the bathroom. Can you hold it? No, I need to go number two. Really bad! Jack cursed and looked at the sky. The winter sun was low, tingeing the clouds orange. They had less than an hour before darkness. I need to go now! The car pulled off the h...

The Chicken | Graeme Reynolds's Blog

Graeme Reynolds's Blog. 8211;dark tales from a twisted mind–. Not a moment too soon. I had barely reached the safety of my shelter and thrown the heavy oaken doors closed behind me when its call echoed through these dark dank halls. The demon fowl’s call chilled my very blood. I hurried from room to room, checking every ingress. Eventually, satisfied that my sanctuary was secure, I retreated to my study to await the coming of the dark that my search may continue under the safety of its onyx folds. Then I...
