Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist: Adrienne Emails--Debussy

Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. June 26, 2014. I have no doubt you will pair the art of Monet with the music of Debussy. I believe that the Impressionist movement began with Monet and his circle of friends in Paris- perhaps it was Manet who was the first to step out of line (? But it was Monet's "Impression, Sunrise" which the style, "Impressionism" was named after. (Thanks, Wikipedia.) The musical movement came afterwards- a musical response to the artistic movement. Here is a great link Adrienne posted.

Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist: Adrienne Emails--Stravinsky

Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. July 9, 2014. I think it's interesting that the two Russian composers you listed are both so closely associated with ballet. Stravinsky's collaboration with Sergei Diaghilev catapulted him to fame, and was a pivotal moment in the history of both music and dance. Stravinsky reinvented his musical style numerous times, but the most famous example is his "Rite of Spring.". I would love to go back in time to see the premier- it nearly ended in a riot! Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. July 10, 2014. Del and Julienne Slaughter. And began to take violin students. I remember when she made the announcement that she was going to teach violin lessons, and that I was going to be her first student! I asked her if that meant I could quit piano. Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist: Adrienne Emails--Mozart and Beethoven
http://www.dunnviolin.com/2014/06/adrienne-emails-mozart-and-beethoven.html
Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. June 6, 2014. Adrienne Emails- Mozart and Beethoven. I've been pondering what music of Mozart and Beethoven to recommend. These two really are the pinnacle of Classical Music. Mozart defines "prodigy," and when you think of the Symphony- everything either leads up to Beethoven symphonies, or follows them- he defined "symphony," as well as many other genres. Music by Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik- very overdone, however, I can actually remember humming this when I was walki...

Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. June 6, 2014. Adrienne Emails- Bach and Haydn. Was so keen on hearing the most famous organist of his day, Buxtehude, that when he was 20 years old, he walked over 200 miles just to hear him play. Bach had 7 children with his first wife, and after she died, he remarried, and had 13 more children. His children helped him copy out parts, which is probably the only way he could have pulled off writing one cantata per week during one part of his career. Once, during one of his ...

Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. June 14, 2014. While Tchaikovsy's music lacks the depth and harmonic complexity of other Romantic composers, he is the master of melody. No one could spin a tune like he could! A funny anecdote to illustrate: When I was in high school, and the Magic Valley Symphony performed the Suite from "Sleeping Beauty," my friend exclaimed, "I had no idea that Tchaikovsky took his theme from the Disney movie! Jennifer Lynn Dunn, violinist. June 16, 2014. There's something about the harmonies, especially in Mahler's slow movements, that feel cathartic to me. The first time I heard the Adagietto from his 5th Symphony, when I was ushering for the Utah Symphony, I felt a huge release of all the inner struggles I was facing at the time, and it came out in tears streaming down my face. And all of this from a guy whose instrument was. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). About Jennifer Lynn Dunn. And Daniel Bishop th...
