Yonathan Avishai / Modern Times. イスラエルのジャズピアニストYonathan Avishaiが、初めてピアノトリオ編成でリリースしたアルバムです。 彼を知ったのは、同じイスラエルのOmer Avitalのアルバム「New Songs」(過去記事は こちら. 65289;で、アルバム自体もお気に入りなんですが、そこでのピアノがハートフルかつかっこいいフレーズを聞かせてくれていたのが強い印象を残しています。 メンツはAvishai Cohen(tp)の"Triveni"が行うツアーメンバーとなっているYoni Zelnikと、全く初耳のDonald Kontomanou。アルバムとしては16曲60分強で、Dule Ellingtonの I Got It Bad (and That ain't Good) (#4)、Louis ArmstrongのCornet Chop Suey (#14) 以外はオリジナルの楽曲で構成されています。 Yonathan Avishai : piano. Fred Hersch Bill Frisell / Songs We Know. 涼しげな音に浸りたいときに聞いている、ピアノのFred HerschとギターのBill Frisellのデュオアルバム。 1998年のリリースですが、この2人はそれまで作品の中では共演はなかったようです。ライナーによると、きっかけはHerschがNonesuchレーベルとの契約をしたこと、共通項はベースのMarc JohnsonとドラムスのJoey Baronのようです。Herschはデビューアルバム" Horizons. 1984)で、FrisellはMarc Johnsonのアルバム" The Sound of Summer Running.
