Selected stories from record labeldom. Tuesday, July 3, 2007. So lots of people keep asking me how bonnaroo was. All I keep saying was WOW. I think I consumed more live music in 4 days then I have in 3 months! So on to another chapter in our label misadventures…. I had the pleasure of heading to B’roo with Rachel an. RV was found. Rachel in her true go-getter nature got on the phone with the listing company and talked them into taking the R. V out of auction and giving it to us. WAY TO GO RACHEL! Would l...

Selected stories from record labeldom. Thursday, June 21, 2007. Support Indie Record Stores. In case you were wondering, there are still record stores that aren't owned by FYE. Vinyl, posters, spiked rocker like belts, fairy porcelain. Statues, army surplus. Hats, and projected video on their black and blue painted walls. Every nook and cranny was covered with some funky memorabilia. Or product. It had something called charm and character, traits slowly dying in our world of mass corporate consumption.

Music you didn’t know you needed…until now. Simple and beautiful indie folk/pop from The Weepies. Deb Tanal and Steve Tannen were both established musicians when they met at one of Tanal’s shows in Cambridge, MA in 2001. They found they had a musical affinity and began playing together as The Weepies. They released their debut independently in 2003 and by 2005, they landed a deal with Nettwerk Records. Their major label debut, Say I Am You. How I Met Your Mother. Putting the in in indie. Take It from Me.

Music you didn’t know you needed…until now. One of my all-time favorites: an absolute classic from Stevie Wonder. Every now and then I like to recommend an old album. This one was never obscure, but my wife and I both commented on how much we both love one of these songs and it made me want to write it up. If even one person who never heard this album before goes out and gets a copy, it will be totally worth dedicating a post to this classic. Stevie Wonder is a national treasure. Have a Talk with God.

obsessed: January 2011
http://musicfashionretro.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 11, 2011. It's been about 6 months since I last posted? Now that's a long time. Haven't really been focusing so much on fashion as I have music mainly due to my lack of funds for clothing purchases and music being delightfully "free". Some tunes I've favourited recently:. 1 Spor. Just a rough cut. Loving the vocals on this one. 2 Radiohead. A little more laid back, 90's tune. I love the original but this remix brings out Thom's vocals like I couldn't really hear in the OG.

Music you didn’t know you needed…until now. The weekend mix: Here’s to new parents. Good luck with that. Of course, there is no greater source of wonder, joy, and fear than your own baby. You can have an academic understanding of how having a baby will change your life, but until you actually do it It’s the difference between reading the ingredients list and actually eating ice cream. Review of new albums giving you our "expert" advice and opinions on what you should, or shouldn't, be listening to. Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Steve's Top of 2011. Disclaimer - I didn't purchase a ridiculous amount of music this year as I have in years past. That being said, I felt that there were some great albums this year. I'm sure there are plenty that I missed, but here's what I dug from this year. 13 and God - Own Your Ghost. Atmosphere - The Family Sign. Beans - End It All. Boom Bip - Zig Zaj.
