Learning to play the piano in a fun, friendly, and positive environment. Wednesday, April 4, 2012. In January, I set forth a challenge. To each of my students to practice 1,000 minutes by the week of March 19th. They had 10 weeks to do it. If they made it to 1,000 they would be invited to the Group Celebration on March 28th. They were encouraged to practice more than the 1,000 minutes as well. Prizes would be awarded to the top 2 students with the highest minutes accrued. Everything is categorized by lev...

Piano With Tifany: August 2011
http://pianowithtifany.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Learning to play the piano in a fun, friendly, and positive environment. Wednesday, August 17, 2011. A Super Song Star! When I was around 5 years old or so, my oldest sister learned "Bumble Boogie". Therefore, I have always encouraged my students to learn pieces outside of their method books. If they are extremely difficult, I find a simplified version for them. To help my students progress, I came up with "A Super Song Star! By the time we had our June recital, the "Super Song" chart was FULL! I offered...

Piano With Tifany: Curling Fingers
http://pianowithtifany.blogspot.com/2012/01/curling-fingers.html
Learning to play the piano in a fun, friendly, and positive environment. Friday, January 27, 2012. It is not unusual for young beginning students to struggle with the concept of "Curly" fingers. They tend to play "flat fingered", which is a horrid habit and limits their playing ability from the very beginning. For years I would constantly pester the students to lift their wrists to help enforce the curly fingers. And you know what? I get sick of nagging:). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). All Things Musical For The Pianist And The Piano Teacher. Leah's Compound Time teaching Blocks. Thursday, September 20, 2012. Fall'ing Back Into Teaching A Ramble of Sorts. That time of year when students come crunching to our doorways and let a wave of brisk, autumn air into our homes. As they come to my door, my students see the last of our ripening tomatoes, which are hanging on until the first frost rings the timer on the term "vine ripened.". How fast the summer flew by! This post is a ramble of sor...

Piano With Tifany: Fish Scales Aquarium
http://pianowithtifany.blogspot.com/2012/01/fish-scales-aquarium.html
Learning to play the piano in a fun, friendly, and positive environment. Friday, January 27, 2012. While browsing other piano teacher blogs and sites, I found Susan Paradis'. Scale program she has her beginner students do. Great website! I took blue poster board to Staples to be laminated. Susan offers the fish. They like to add air bubbles, too. Yes, I got a bit obsessed with this idea and made all sorts of extras to add:). Above and below the Aquarium are pictures of each pentascale, both the Major.
