universal grit: Carry On
http://musingsdemommy.blogspot.com/2011/06/carry-on.html
Formerly Musings de Mommy). Thursday, June 2, 2011. I'm so persnickety- a bag of contradictions and nuances. So many thoughts rush, stop and course through my head lately. Nothing too notable, nothing too monumental. Just idiosyncrasies and minutia rolling like waves through my brain. And so, in no particular order, I give a partial list of Me:. 3 When I get too caught up in my own thoughts (which happens more than I'd like to admit), I try to stop and say to myself,. Breathe in. Out. I see my friends (a...
universal grit: Sun and Corn
http://musingsdemommy.blogspot.com/2011/08/sun-and-corn.html
Formerly Musings de Mommy). Tuesday, August 30, 2011. I snapped this photo after the kids husked the corn before dinner one night. It's rare that I appreciate anything that looks messy or unkempt- but this site of summer stopped me. I love how the late afternoon sun angles in on a summer tradition. Strewn husks, hundreds of pieces of corn silk. An unspoken promise of deliciousness. Soon, that sun will be long gone at this time of day. August 30, 2011 at 3:16 PM. Again, why cant summer last forever?
universal grit: Parallels
http://musingsdemommy.blogspot.com/2011/06/parallels.html
Formerly Musings de Mommy). Monday, June 6, 2011. As the school year wraps, I'm keenly aware of the merging presence of both the end and the beginning. The end of the school year and the beginning of the summer, mingling in the same space. Yesterday, I walked the halls of Abby's elementary school. What is it about the palpable, tangible energy during those last school days? Endings end and beginnings really begin,. Meshing and paralleling each other. A repost from June 2010. Ah yes . you evoke the sm...
universal grit: Heart Crack
http://musingsdemommy.blogspot.com/2006/10/heart-crack.html
Formerly Musings de Mommy). Wednesday, October 18, 2006. My son is four months, almost four and a half months, old. Tonight is the first night he is sleeping in his very own room. 8221; I’d just shrug (can you do that over the phone? When the babysitter mentioned that she put him to sleep in the bassinet but that maybe he was too big for it, I knew it was time for a change. Slow down, sweetheart. It’s because in my mommy gut, I knew I wanted and needed him right there. So there he stayed. Eat, Pray, Love...
universal grit: Wisdom From Trees
http://musingsdemommy.blogspot.com/2011/09/wisdom-from-trees.html
Formerly Musings de Mommy). Tuesday, September 27, 2011. The steam rose out of the sink, holding my hands and the dish they washed. The dish and I were in a warm cloud of the water's vapors while my hands deftly cleaned the bowl. I placed it on the white, waffle drying towel and picked up the next vessel to wash. If I could just do it all better, more efficiently, I'd feel better and have more time. IF I could better balance my responsibilities and desires, I'd be like those other people who get So&#...

Writings on metastatic breast cancer, grief and loss, life, and family. These things are not tied with a pink ribbon (this is what breast cancer has done to me). October 22nd, 2014 38 comments. I do want to share that the book auction to raise money for my metastatic research fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering is now live. To go to the Facebook page and then scroll down to see all of the boxes. Last year the event raised over $4000 and we are on track to blow that out of the water. If you want to donat...

Some friends of ours are moving across the country, so we inherited their betta fish (and the contents of their freezer). Carina named him Marsha. Live from Little Rock (and other places). Everybody’s Got An Opinion. July 3, 2011 in Callen. Lately Callen has started to show a greater interest in music. And more of an opinion. Recently we were out to eat when a Sarah McLaughlin song came on. Five seconds into the song, Callen said he didn’t like the song. When I asked him why, he said, “because it’s sad.” I thought that was pretty intuitive, even if Sarah is one of my favorite artists. I don’t wike this! I don’t want to hear this! Your words can make a difference. Guest Post: Co-sleeping with Jaws. Order Forms →. Guest Post of the Day: Blessings. October 28, 2010. My life blessed me with a best friend. In the moments of clarity, when I stop and savor the amazing contributions and guidance she delivers loyally and consistently I am moved to tears. This morning provided one of those idyllic times. One of my favorite authors, Katrina Kenison. How rich my life is for her presence in it. How I cannot imagine my life without her in it.

Las Musings de Ani
Las Musings de Ani. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. I recently have started learning a new language- Korean (한국어)! I have been taking Korean classes for the past month with my roommate at a local Korean Church. Every Friday evening we meet for three hours with our 선생님 (Korean teacher), learn new vocabulary and grammar, and have an overall good time. During the week I study all the things I learned in class and return excited for class the following week. What use does that have for me and my life? One word: c...

My entire adult life, I’ve held an interest in mythology any mythology really, but my curiosity and fascination have been mostly piqued by the ones that spirited me far and away from the Christian one, on which I was raised.
