Mountain side mugging | Musings from a Valley Boy

https://musingsfromavalleyboy.wordpress.com/2012/04/01/mountain-side-mugging

Musings from a Valley Boy. Day in day out. I’ve been mugged, kicked in the ribs, had the bottom of my feet beaten with a rowing paddle, a cigarette stubbed out on my middle toe and every joint below my waste twisted by an American wrestler! Not really, I’m merely feeling the effects of completing the south Wales three peaks yesterday – but that’s what it feels like! A 5am start to the day promised the ascent of the Blorenge, Sugerloaf and Skirrid Fawr, 20 miles of hill walking and country lane rambling!

Mission Quite Possible… | Musings from a Valley Boy

https://musingsfromavalleyboy.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/mission-quite-possible

Musings from a Valley Boy. Day in day out. Mission Quite Possible…. A half an hour ago I was relaxing in front of the idiot box watching Tom Cruise further himself as one of Hollywoods contemporary auteurs in Mission Impossible III. My wife then told me that my son had a teddy bears tea party in school in the morning and that she couldn’t find his teddy bear! Well, there was no chance that any son of mine would be going to a teddy bears tea party without a bloody teddy bear! I sent my wife an MSM with th...

Musings from a Valley Boy. Day in day out. Archive for the month “March, 2012”. So off to Tescos I trot to find the grand total of 2 ‘kind of’ teddy bears – one that would ...I sent my wife ...

Jesus Won’t Let Me Buy Mint | Musings from a Valley Boy

https://musingsfromavalleyboy.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/jesus-wont-let-me-buy-mint

Musings from a Valley Boy. Day in day out. Jesus Won’t Let Me Buy Mint. Another Easter has come and gone without any kind of incident whatsoever. Yet again. I find it to be the most uninteresting christian holiday forced upon us heretics in the calendar year. Unless your a kid of course. All that freely unearned chocolate to gorge on, a few bank holiday disney films, an abundance of toy bunnies and chicks and a couple of weeks off from the toil of school! But for one major obstacle! Plenty of coriander a...

The Scarperer: Tempus fugit...

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2012/10/tempus-fugit.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Tuesday, 2 October 2012. Or more accurately, time flees. And doesn't it just! It slides through our fingers with a slipperiness and speed that surprises. Along with forgetfulness, nasal hair, length of tooth and baldness, the speed at which time passes also increases with age. In a week's time I shall be 50. I never thought I'd live this long. Live fast, die young. Heterosexuals say the funniest things. Passing a news...

The Scarperer: Camp as tits...

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2011/12/camp-as-tits.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Wednesday, 7 December 2011. A friend of mine from my college days used to use the phrase, camp as tits. To describe anything that he thought was really camp. I could never work out why female secondary sexual characteristics should be camp (unless some guy is wearing a false pair perhaps - which, I guess, is what he meant) but I like the phrase anyway. Whilst most of us recognise it when we see it, defining camp.

The Scarperer: Is Tom Cruise gay...?

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2012/07/is-tom-cruise-gay.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Sunday, 1 July 2012. Is Tom Cruise gay? Passing a newsagent's on my run yesterday afternoon, I couldn't help but notice how many front pages had Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes splashed all over them, following news on Friday that they are to divorce. It seems that people care a great deal about Tom Cruise, his life and his loves. About Tom Cruise and Scientology, Tom Cruise and John Travolta, Tom Cruise's height and, of ...

The Scarperer: June 2012

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Wednesday, 27 June 2012. A year ago today I wrote the first post for this blog, with a challenge to myself to write an entry every day for six months. Six months came and went and I now find myself, 366 posts later, writing the 367th on the blog's first birthday. To write something every day, I've gained quite a lot of insight about me and my approach to writing. So what does the future hold for The Scarperer. After m...

The Scarperer: May 2012

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Thursday, 31 May 2012. Was a 19th Century American poet and essayist. He published a collection of poems called Leaves of Grass. Which was thought obscene because of it's overt sexuality. He is generally regarded as an opposer to slavery and it's believed that he was gay or bisexual. Perhaps one of his most famous lines is from his poem The Untold Want. Here's the most famous scene from the film. Today's run at 17:55.

The Scarperer: My inner Imelda Marcos...

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2011/10/my-inner-imelda-marcos.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Saturday, 8 October 2011. My inner Imelda Marcos. Is it wrong to sneak a look up the pool attendant's shorts? For such was the sight that befell my eyes as I clung onto the side of the pool after today's swim. I think it was God rewarding me for cleaning the flat this morning and then bothering to do some physical exercise. Except that I don't believe in God. And a new jacket. Featuring the magnificent Florence Welch.

The Scarperer: December 2012

http://scarperer.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

A blog about some of the things I think about whilst I'm running, swimming and cycling. Saturday, 22 December 2012. So this is Christmas? I spent yesterday lunchtime battling the rabid throngs of Christmas shoppers through the centre of Cardiff, wishing I'd not strayed from my office desk. I don't mind so much those with an honest sense of purpose and determination to acquire that last scrap of yuletide tat; it's the amblers and drifters that send me over the edge. Those potbellied porkers that can't res...

Despite some initially pessimistic weather forecasts, Manchester Pride 2012. Who was appallingly treated by the authorities over his homosexuality. How times change. It's a sign of acceptance; it's a sign of the times. How out of touch can these people get? Mixed Up Musings from Auntie M

Mixed Up Musings from Auntie M. Tuesday, November 18. Apparently I have completely neglected some regions of this fine country of ours. If I had the money, I'd pack my bags and hit the road. Does it count that I mainly "visited" West Virginia and Virginia by going to that place where the corners of WV, VA, and MD all meet? LOL I really only have memory of that.I know we were staying in MD, so that definitely counts! I was 8 or 9. Not too much can be expected of me. Thursday, November 6. I Am An Empath.

Musings from a Valley Boy | Day in day out

Musings from a Valley Boy. Day in day out. The Best Friday Ever! But another legend gone). I bet you’re expecting some salacious tale of post office boozing of cocktails and the like, ending up in some kind of drug addled orgy of disgrace, morally defeated to be found in a lump on the floor with just my work pass to my name. In the Pear Tree – quaffing a few ales and mulling over the finer points of life and of course our beloved music! I can’t express enough how much fun we had this evening. I can&#8217...
