Musing with Hieu

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Sunday, 25 January 2015. So this blog has gone down the proverbial drain in the last couple of months hasn’t it? As regular visitors may have probably noticed, I’ve found less and less time in the past year or two to continue updating this blog and will likely cease updating it for an indefinite period. However, I won’t cease all writing in general! For those who might not know, I have recently started up a website that aims to promote discussion of Asian cinema.

Musing with Hieu: July 2014

http://musingwithhieu.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Friday, 18 July 2014. August is shaping up to be an exciting month! As I am every year, I'm stoked for the Melbourne International Film Festival. To roll into town and have already booked a fair share of films to see! No surprises that I'll be seeing mostly Asian features as I have a feeling some, if not most, won't get a distribution deal of some kind here in Australia. Which films am I gonna try and catch, you ask? Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter. The One I Love.

Musing with Hieu: August 2013

http://musingwithhieu.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Wednesday, 28 August 2013. The way I'm going, I ought to turn this blog into a monthly. OR BI-MONTHLY, NO. TRI-MONTHLY! Anyways, HAVEN'T BLOGGED IN SO LONG AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE LONGEST I'VE GONE WITHOUT MAKING AN ENTRY. So much stuff has happened over the course of these two months (close to three maybe? I dunno) but I'll try to condense everything and give a quick indication as to why I may have fallen off the bandwagon. And I had an amazing time up there th...

Musing with Hieu: August 2014

http://musingwithhieu.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Wednesday, 13 August 2014. Is well and truly here though the festival will be wrapping up come this Sunday! While I haven't seen as many films I would have liked, I feel like the amount I did get around to seeing was good enough. Unfortunately that didn't include seeing The Grandmaster. Or The One I Love. Cause I had been rostered to work the evening of those films' screenings. It doesn't bother me so much though since The Grandmaster. A Korean-based distributor ...

Musing with Hieu: January 2013

http://musingwithhieu.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Wednesday, 30 January 2013. Season of the Witch. So you may have wondered where I've been and why I haven't posted on this blog. Indeed, this is a very late post by my standards but I have a decent reason (in case one of you actually gives a damn about my absence). Other than catching up with some films and doing the usual lot of gaming, one of the main reasons why I haven't updated this blog is because of my birthday! Then the day after that was. Didn't really c...

Musing with Hieu: May 2013

http://musingwithhieu.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

160;        . 160;        . 160;        . Tuesday, 28 May 2013. I know these blog posts are becoming awfully sporadic (no longer the weekly updates they used to be in case you hadn’t noticed already) but the gap between this one and the previous one is possibly the longest time between posts. Remember I said that I had interviewed anime director, Mamoru Hosoda? Well, the full interview is up online for everyone to read over at Japan Cinema. Also, I got around to seeing a live Mexican wrestling event too ...

With Marty and Emma. Because planning sucks. 5 Centimetres Per Second (Byousoku 5cm). July 29, 2010. Kenji Mizuhashi, Yoshimi Kondou, Satomi Hanamura. Its visuals, and vice versa. And The Places Promised in Our Early Days. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? 8211; a short trailer, fairly accurate preview of the film’s tone. The whole film IS on youtube, but because a lot of the film’s grandeur is its visuals, again I might have to recommend against that option…. 183;Tags: 5 centimetres per second. I loved this...

Richard Kirk on Ethics: Musing With A Hammer

Richard Kirk on Ethics: Musing With A Hammer. Culture Criticism with a Philosophical and Literary Flair. Diagnosing Moral Malpractice since 1989. Sunday, December 31, 2017. THE BLACK REDNECK VERSION OF “RESPECT”. Respect but rather establishing a pecking order that’s akin to kissing Godfather’s ring. In saddling blacks with a violence-soaked, respect-me-first identity akin to the racist Southern culture they had struggled against for centuries and whose origins can be traced back to the Scottish highlands.

By His Grace

8220;Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you're beyond the need of God's grace.”. Monday, April 16, 2012. Take Me To Church. There is a difference in a man that will take you to church and a man that will just go to church with you. In this day and age, it's hard for a strong independent woman such as myself to think about a man having any control of my life. But this one place, I don't just want it, I need it. So many C...

Blabber on travel, food and anything that comes to mind. The more we get together… in Hong Kong! Overall, a tiring but enjoyable trip. The weather could have been better – it was warmer than I had hoped for. (In early Jan, I was expecting 17 degree celcius max! Wanted to add two more food places to the list:. 1) Pang’s Kitchen. Local cuisine and alot of variety. Best to go in larger groups! Read the rest of this entry ». Posted under Travel Journal. Bhutan – Land of Happiness. Posted under Travel Journal.
