My adventures at the California Missions. Hi, my name is Nate. I am in 4th grade and I live in California. This blog is my California Mission project. I like costumes, mythology, reading, Legos, and visiting the missions with my family. My favorite way of putting a costume on is just wearing a fake mustache. My adventures at the California Missions. Mission San Juan Capistrano Mission is one of the largest I saw, and the coolest one too. Many parts of it reminded me of the video game Uncharted. This mission has a tiny cemetery compared to the rest of the grounds, but there are more people buried there than you think. There are over 2,000 people buried there! My adventures at the California Missions. Mission San Gabriel Arcangel is small but they have a really cool cactus garden. It was founded on September, 8 1771. It has a pretty small cemetery but there are over 5,000 people buried there. It isn’t where it was originally built in 1771. Because of a flood in 1776 it was moved to present day San Gabriel. And then it was destroyed again in the 1812 Wrightwood Earthquake. It was again damaged in the 1987 Whittier Narrows Earthquake. Next post →.

My adventures at the California Missions. Mission Santa Ines is small but has an active church community right in the heart of the Dutch village called Solvang. This was not one of my favorite missions though, because I learned that a soldier beat a Chumash. Boy here, which started a fight between the padres and the soldiers against the native peoples. Eventually the Native Americans stopped the fight and after that, only a few of them remained at the Mission.
