Tim Oakes: April 2006

Made to make you think. Friday, April 21, 2006. What was it like? Liz Hinds bellows from the crowds. Well making the choice to leave a plane at 12000ft is not something that is easily expressed in words but I'll try. Six of us were jumping from Linden and I think it's fair to say I was by far the most worried about doing it. Somehow everyone else veiled themselves with a thin veneer of confidence and excitement but I'm sure they all soiled themselves at some point! Still feeling excited we shuffled to th...

Made to make you think. Friday, May 26, 2006. I haven't posted for ages and feel compelled to just in case Jonny M strikes me off his friends list for inactivity! I don't have anything profound or thought provoking so heres my news, or significant lack of it:. My final exam is on June 10th which means that I get to walk out of my exam wearing my england shrit with pride as we then take on the filth of Paraguay. Thats about the only saving grace of my exam timetable, it finishes as the world cup starts.

Tim Oakes: October 2005

Made to make you think. Thursday, October 27, 2005. I've been giving this idea of Jesus asking us to give up everything for him some thought and a few questions still remain. Surely sacrificing all we have is difficult and painful especially in the scenario where Jesus says we could be asked to disown our families. How can such loss be married with the statement "my burden is light and my yoke is easy"? Mr Lovell posted a beautiful reply about the cost of grace. You can read it here. We Have A Winner!

Made to make you think. Thursday, September 22, 2005. Posted by Tim @ 9/22/2005. Well we had a record number of entries into the "guess the price competition" but you were all rubbish. The Winner is a Mr R. Hinds who's guess of 8.79 was the closest. The actual price was 14.25. Unbelievable what foolish english travellers will pay when they are hungry. Rob email me your address and a prize will be in the post. Posted by Tim @ 9/22/2005. Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Posted by Tim @ 9/20/2005. Today, much o...

Extremely Linden: October 2006

Wednesday, October 25, 2006. A little local difficulty. Thanks to the IT expertise of the Linden Administrator, on Friday the hard drive of the office computer was wiped completely clean. The benefits of this move should be obvious: a load of rubbish was deleted and the computer runs a whole lot faster. On the down side, a number of slightly important but not irreplaceble files and documents were also lost. Included in the 'useful but gone' category are email addresses. Posted by Linden @ 1:30 PM. Half-t...

Monday, September 18, 2006. Those of you who know Rich Pyke will know that he is not one to seek attention! But he would be grateful if you could pray for him right now. Rich has had an eye problem - a side effect of his diabetes - and he is having laser treatment for it. The weekly treatment, in which laser rays are shot into the back of the eye to seal tiny veins, is very painful and takes about 40 minutes a treatment (or as long as Rich can stand the pain! Please pray for him and Deni. Is planned for ...
