It seems a shame not to capture and share some of our collective intelligence about good places to eat and drink. Some of these are recommended by others, unvisited and to try. Beautifully designed wooden box brasserie on the Burke-Gilman trail near UW cafe in the morning with nice breakfasts (and proper cappuccino) at the marble counter, good looking food and drinks in the evening, outdoor seating along the bike path. Ernest Loves Agnes. Nice new pasta and pizza place on 19th. Barking Frog. Eastside...

All I ask of food is that it doesn't harm me. We recently moved to Seattle. Seattle has some great food. There's a great fish market here called Mutual Fish. And, of course the pike place market. The Whole Foods Market. Is ginormous. There's also some good restaurants. We sometimes walk over to our neighborhood Italian joint, Cafe Lago. We're also fond of brunch at Etta's. When we're in the mood for sushi we hit Nishino's. The best steak I've had here was at Dahlia Lounge. 149; Grilled Pork Chops. 149; V...

Friday, January 25, 2008. Last week on DVD I watched The Namesake. Mira Nair's follow-up to the sensuous Monsoon Wedding. The film feels deeply personal and continues with Nair's celebration/examination of Indian culture in modern times. The story begins with a young woman in India (played beautifully by actress Tabu) being sent by her family to New York to marry another Indian working on his Ph.D. To learn more, go to the show's web site. This was my second time there, both times I've done take-out....

IN OUR MOTHER'S KITCHEN. NEIGHBORHOOD HOT SPOT… HUMBLE PIE. June 5th, 2015. As a recent transplant from NYC, I’m constantly on the lookout for great pizza here in the Northwest. We have incredible seafood, an abundance of awesome Asian cuisine, and of course, the best coffee in the country, but pizza has always felt a little ho hum here, which is such a let down after years of unlimited super delicious NYC pies. Can you give us a run down on a day in the life of a pizza maker? There is a place for food a...

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! March 10, 2016. It’s the month to celebrate all things Irish! Every year I love to make an Irish dish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This year, I decided to try making Irish cream from scratch, which is one of my favorite Irish treats. I was pleasantly surprised by how much this tastes like Baileys! And I thought it was lovely. I hope you’ll give it a try and add it to your celebration on the 17th. Artwork can be found at the website How to Nest for Less. 1 teaspoon cocoa powder.
