Was a beautiful presentation by PBS and Rick Sebak that highlights the diversity of sandwiches and their origins via one big road trip across the country. Perhaps a long-lost cousin. Not long ago, I discovered this great site, whose name resembles my own Sandwich Lover's Club. I will be very tempted to smash a fist into their sandwich. http://sandwichloversclub.blogspot.com/2009/02/mcdowells-aaaaaggh.html
Hello to my fellow sandwich fie. Monday, February 16, 2009. This past weekend, I told my better half about how there are other sites and blogs dedicated to sandwiches out there, and one in particular that I've admired from time to time because of its style, content, and followers. And how I've made one-way contact with the guy who runs the joint, but that he'd never responded on any occasion. I asked. "What? After a moment, she said," You're McDowell's. I ain't no McDowell's! Thanks GB.quite the epic...

Why commercials are important. Not the best combination. Saturday, October 15, 2005. Why commercials are important. But I've made a valuable discovery today. When else could you get up to make another sandwich? Or to pour yourself and the one you love another drink? Take a bathroom break?

Sandwiches 1 and 2. Sunday, November 13, 2005. Dammit Beavis. Tonight I made a sandwich for my bambino's lunch tomorrow, and, once I remove the lid and peel off the foil, I'm kind of admiring the smooth, semi-glossy surface of the peanut butter (my endorsement for Peter Pan: 'Honey Roast' goes here. I doesn't hit me until I dig a butter knife into it and spread it over the bread that I bought Creamy instead of Crunchy. Cue the muted trombone ('aw, nuts' effect). How could I overlook a detail like this?

An affair to forget. Monday, January 16, 2006. To me, at least. I've decided it's time to come out from under my rock and ' explore some more' . (Long story.) Why no one else urged me to go sooner, I don't know. My wife gave me the push to get things rolling. Whole Foods Market. Whose company name started here in Austin on Lamar St., opened back in 1980, I think. Since then, they've acquired stores all across the US. This place spanks, seriously. If it's for this reason alone, I'm coming back for mo'.
