경제적인 소비생활과 보다 건전한 문화생활, 그리고 쾌적한 환경 속에서 대학생황을 보내고자하는 대학인의 바람에서 출발한 자조운동이라고 할 수 있습니다. 이 대학생활협동조합을 우리는 흔히 ‘대학생협’이라고 간단하게 말합니다. 여기서 우리가 착목할 부분은 ‘협동조합’이라는 것인데, 우리가 알고 있는 대표적인 협동조합이 농협입니다. 그런데 과거 농협은 농민을 수탈하는 정부산하 조직이라는 비판적 인식이 많았고 지금도 배분의 사람이 농협이 금융기관의 하나라는 정도로 이해하는 사람들이 많습니다. 이런 이유에서 우리는 그동안 협동조합을 제대로 바라볼 수 없었습니다. 하지만 대학생협을 바르게 이해하고 또한 우리가 만든 대학생협을 잘 활용하기 위해서는 지금까지 협동조합에 대한 잘못된 편견에서 벗어나 협동조합 그것 자체가 가진 기능과 운영원리를 이해하는 것에서 출발해야할 것입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 여러 대학에서 대학생협을 설립하고 운영하는 이유는 어디에 있을까요? 목원대학교 소비자생활협동조합이 꼭 필요한 이유!
