La maison Macdonell-Williamson,connue également sous le nom de Poplar Villa ou Scotus, fut construite par John Macdonell aux environs de 1817. Situé sur la rive sud de la rivière des Outaouais, à proximité du village de Pointe-Fortune, à la frontière de l'Ontario et du Québec (le Haut Canada et le Bas Canada). Du 2 juillet au 28 août ouvert les samedis et dimanches. Ouvert: 11:00 à 16:00 h. Directions à la Maison.

Artbo Web Services Inc. The Macdonell-Williamson House, known as Poplar Villa or Scotus was built by John Macdonell on his retirement circa 1817. It is located in Ontario on the Ottawa River adjacent to the village of Pointe-Fortune, at the border between Ontario and Quebec (Upper Canada and Lower Canada).The house was acquired in 1978 by the Ontario Heritage Foundation in order to save it from demolition. Extensive architectural and archeological investigations were carried out. Follow the road signs.

The Travels of a Quilter. Saturday, December 13, 2014. We had about a foot of wet snow fall the other day. Very heavy! Below is my husband shaking the snow off some of the branches of our fir tree- those branches on his right should be sitting horizontally about 10' up in the air. A couple of shots of the water at the park next door. It's starting to freeze over, but not quite yet! The snow was so wet, and blowing so hard that it stuck like spray foam to one side of the trees. The Travels of a Quilter. Monday, May 4, 2015. We saw all sorts of windmills from little ones to modern ones. They were developed in the 1600s and were used to grind grain, saw logs into planks, move water uphill using an Archimedes screw, and to grind stones for making paint colours. Below you can see the vertical saw blades attached to the grey unit. People lived inside the windmill- and what a noise they had to live with as the blades rotated in the wind! Sunday, May 3, 2015. I taught a beginners dyeing course the first day and a surface design class the next day. The art room at the Collège André Grassett is a lovely bright room with lots of sinks. Perfect for my needs! The Travels of a Quilter. Friday, July 3, 2015. Here are a few pictures from the cottage taken at the end of June when we had some lovely weather - i.e. no rain! Oh dear. The deer. This was a rather successful hosta until it became a midnight snack. Funny how they don't like the striped ones. And below, for dessert they polished off the lily buds.
