This site was initially developed to provide information to those residents in Tennessee that wanted to attend the Million Woman March which was held on October 25th 1997. Of course, now this site is being maintained during this aftermath of the MWM, in order to provide direction to those that want to be kept abreast of the grass roots events planned in their city as well as across the country. Prior to their triumphant march on Philadelphia on that last Saturday in October 1997.

In 1996, Brenda Burgess of Lansing Michigan interviewed Phile' Chionesu, an activist from Philadephia, Pennsylvania. Chionesu was the originator of the now historic Million Woman March. Chionesu, along with Asia Coney organized women of African descent to march on Benjamin Franklin Parkway October 25, 1997. This website tells the story of the Midwest Region and how it was developed.
