Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Appointment with Dr. Sheperd. Well we saw Dr. Sheperd, the lung chemo doctor. So the tumor in Mom's right lung is 2.5 x 2.5 cm. It's not very large but it often causes her excruciating pain. Although there are some little nodules in the right and left sides, they are nothing to be concerned about and are "indeterminate". Sunday, September 25, 2005. Treatment not an option. Sorry again for the delay. Because of the persistent fluid build-up in her lungs, doctors performed a procedure that expanded the lungs and adhered them to the chest wall. This has prevented it from happening again. It made a big difference on her breathing at rest- she no longer wheezes like she was, and only experiences shortness of breath on exertion (after talking on the phone for a while, climbing the stairs, getting up, etc.).

Tuesday, July 19, 2005. After seeing Dr. Sheppard, Mom was referred back to her brain radiologist, Dr. Waldron, who this time prescribed her lung radiation. She received this therapy 5 days/week, for 5 weeks! Needless to say, her energy has been quite low and she is feeling a little bit weak. A few weeks after finishing radiation, her breathing became more difficult and she began to wheeze. She went to Sunnybrook ER and the next day, they removed 2.5 Litres of fluid from her lungs!
