In 1957, Dr. W.C. Petty, long-time Lake County Superintendent of Schools, invited a number of retired teachers to meet as his guests at the Karcher Hotel in Waukegan to discuss the formation of a Lake County Retired Teachers Association. LCRTA hosts a monthly luncheon at 11:45 on the second Tuesday of each month. The luncheon is held at Lamb’s Farm on Route 176 in Libertyville. In addition to good food and good friends, each meeting includes a very short business meeting to update the members on issues affecting their pensions and insurance. Each meeting features a guest speaker. Sometimes entertaining, sometimes educational, always interesting.
