My Backpack Diaries: Alta Niña Beach Resort, Accommodation Near Potipot Island
http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2011/04/alta-nina-beach-resort-accommodation.html
Reliving the memories of my budget strolls and travels. Sunday, April 10, 2011. Alta Niña Beach Resort, Accommodation Near Potipot Island. Alta Niña Beach Resort is a small quiet resort located in the stretch of Candelaria Beach in Brgy. Uacon, Candelaria Zambales. Candelaria is known because it is the jump off point to Potipot Island. A white sand island in the area. I chose to stay in this resort because by that time I was researching, this is the place that met our budget and our other needs. This is ...
My Backpack Diaries: Sierra Madre Resort, A Resort with a Scenic View
http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2012/03/sierra-madre-resort-resort-with-scenic.html
Reliving the memories of my budget strolls and travels. Thursday, March 8, 2012. Sierra Madre Resort, A Resort with a Scenic View. Dreaming of a quiet bonding moment with someone or probably a place to spend with friends? We retraced our steps to get back near the spring valley pool and saw another branch of pathway leading to the prayer mountain. It is a series of stations of the cross and once we reached the top most part of it, we realized we're in another mountain. Cool! Overall, I enjoyed exploring ...
My Backpack Diaries: The Day I Got Mesmerized by Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas
http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2011/04/day-i-got-mesmerized-by-puting-buhangin.html
Reliving the memories of my budget strolls and travels. Thursday, April 21, 2011. The Day I Got Mesmerized by Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas. A floating restaurant that’s a close proximity to the fishing village where we rented a boat that took us to Putting Buhangin. After the power plant, the view turned more interesting. We passed by small patches of white sands on a limestone backdrop. Trees are abundant. Rock formations became a usual sight then we passed a white limestone, it looked...I tried t...
My Backpack Diaries: Burot Beach: A Cheap Get-away to Calatagan Batangas
http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2012/06/this-visit-to-burot-beach-is-more-of.html
Reliving the memories of my budget strolls and travels. Friday, June 22, 2012. Burot Beach: A Cheap Get-away to Calatagan Batangas. It was already past noon when we arrived Lian and we rented a jeep that would take us to Calatagan, to avoid waiting for a long queue of jeeps waiting to be filled. We paid Php300 for all of us, 8 adults and 2 children. We added Php100, the driver seemed really helpful. With the view, the deeper water on the second day and with the company of adventurers like me, I was reall...
My Backpack Diaries: Revisiting Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas
http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2013/06/revisiting-puting-buhangin-and-kwebang.html
Reliving the memories of my budget strolls and travels. Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Revisiting Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas. The first time I went there, I took a boat from Brgy. Bantigue. As stated in my previous blog. This time, I decided to try the other route suggested by other bloggers that would involve a short boat ride and some trekking. Commuting to Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas. Ride any Lucena bound. Alight in Lucena Grand Terminal. Look for the queue of jeeps going to Pagbilao. The tre...

After Nerd Hours: April 2015
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Vietnam: First Adventure of the Year. I've been in Vietnam for two weeks with my co-workers for a company outing. We started out with eight people in Hanoi, went down to the central region and then went back to Hanoi to meet the rest of the company. All the while, we're working full-time. I guess it's one of the perks of working remotely- we can travel while working (even though it's not entirely convenient). Hoi An Ancient Town. Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi. Cruising in Ha Long Bay.

Monday, July 27, 2015. Last Dinner at Ichiran. For my last dinner in Tokyo in 2013, Kyle brought me to the famous ramen shop, Ichiran. Single counters at Ichiran. You can set aside the dividers if you're dining with friends. Spicy food is quite uncommon in Japan so being a spicy food-lover, I really love how Ichiran has spicy sauce in their ramen and allows you to customize the amount. There's already a water dispenser on your counter. Darn it, I miss Ichiran. I'm craving ramen right now. I first learned...
After Nerd Hours: Harry Potter: The Exhibition in Tokyo
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015/07/harry-potter-exhibition-in-tokyo.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. Harry Potter: The Exhibition in Tokyo. Needless to say, I was really happy that my trip to Tokyo coincided with the Harry Potter exhibition. I mean, what are the chances, right? The day after I landed in Tokyo, I went to Lawson with my friend Kyle (who is also a fan of Harry Potter) to buy tickets. On the day itself, Kyle and I were so excited lol. But I had to control myself because I had spent too much on the trip already. However, I still ended up with these:. After lunch, wen...
After Nerd Hours: Fandom-Driven Tokyo Adventures
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015/07/fandom-driven-tokyo-adventures.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. This post recounts the last whole day of my 2013 trip to Japan in which Kyle and I went to Ebisu, Akihabara, and Tokyo Tower. In the morning, we took the train to Shibuya and walked to Ebisu Garden Place. The only reason I wanted to go there is because it's one of the sets of Hana Yori Dango, one of my favorite Japanese drama series. Domyouji and Tsukushi's meeting place for their first date. This is where Domyouji and Tsukushi got married. Later on, we went to Tokyo Tower. At this...

After Nerd Hours: November 2014

Thursday, November 27, 2014. Yonggungsa on the Cliffs by the Sea. On my first day in Busan, I went to Yonggungsa, a Buddhist temple situated on the cliffs by the sea. Most Buddhist temples are actually situated in the mountains that's why this temple is quite unique. Statues of the twelve zodiacs were by the entrance. This dragon totally reminds me of Dragon Ball lol. It was a warm afternoon but it was super windy by the sea so I couldn't take off my coat. Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Over the past few da...
After Nerd Hours: Compensating
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015/07/compensating.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. For some reason, July has been quite. melancholic so I tried to compensate by doing things I love. I made mangoes and cream cheese muffins. I made a new bag for my shinai (the bamboo sword we use in kendo). I bought a couple milk cotton yarn skeins and they're in progress of being turned into beanies. My hat-loving friend who lives in Japan recently came home for vacation so I'm making one for him as a gift. Oh, and I colored some parts of my hair with blue dye! The Quirks Of Being...
After Nerd Hours: Visiting the Gundam Model in Odaiba
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015/07/visiting-gundam-model-in-odaiba.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Visiting the Gundam Model in Odaiba. Two years ago, I went to Japan for a summer program at The University of Tokyo. When the program ended (in Tohoku), I stayed a few more days to go sightseeing in Tokyo with my friend, Kyle, who's studying there. The day the program ended, we took an overnight bus from Tohoku back to Tokyo. I saw the famous 'akamon' or the red gate of The University of Tokyo. Afterwards, I took the train to my friend's house and then we went to Odaiba. It is actu...
After Nerd Hours: February 2015
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Last month, I was asked by my adviser if I could be a part-time lecturer at the university this semester. Turns out, one of the faculty members suddenly had to take a leave so they needed people to fill in. So yes, it's back to school for me! I'm teaching one subject (two hours per week) this semester. Didn't think I'd be using these again. I've been making a lot of cupcakes. I also managed to bring out my watercolor and pick up a brush after more than a year! Confessions of a...
After Nerd Hours: May 2015
http://engineerclaire.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 21, 2015. I love mangoes. I love pie. Now that mangoes are in season, I can't get enough of making mango pies. Below is a lattice-top mango pie that I made two weekends ago. It was my first time to make a lattice top and I think my lattice strips ended up a bit too wide but I guess it's not bad for a first time. We had some leftover vanilla-mango-graham ice cream that time so hurray for mango pie a la mode! I paired it with iced Vietnamese coffee one humid afternoon. Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

My Backpack and Me | visiting places, meeting people
My Backpack and Me. Visiting places, meeting people. August 29, 2008. I first read in books (ok I admitted, manga) that Hakone is known as a local tourism destination for citizens of Tokyo and surrounding area. When they want to go relaxing in onsen, Hakone is the place. In LP, it is mentioned as a unique destination, because to reach Hakone from Tokyo, people have to use different methods of transportation, for example bus, switchback train, bus and even pirate ship! Right before the train departed, the...

Out Of My Comfort Zone…. With Luck, Forward…. Posted by Imrul Kabir. July 22, 2011. It’s always been tough for me to finish what I start or execute what I plan. May be one of the biggest reason is my lack of determination or simply I’m too lazy. At times my brain is shooting with so many ideas and I’m so motivated to give life to whatever I plan but … Continue reading →. Life As We Know it. With Luck, Forward…. Life As We Know it.
