It all starts with an idea. Over the years we just kept adding more. Of course it wasn’t easy, but it was a labor of love. We now have these beds and garden tiers surrounding the house, in the back, the front, and the side yards. Tim is now semi-retired and works part time at a local nursery. He obtained a master gardener’s certificate from UNH and is my goto guy when it comes to plant pests, diseases, and those hard to pronounce Latin plant names! Lots more Great Pics too! Although hosta plants are shade lovers, their actual sunlight requirements vary widely. Many varieties do quite well in the sun and some of them actually require more sunlight to reach their best color potential. Hosta leaves come in a variety of greens, ranging anywhere from a gray/blue to a light chartreuse yellow, and even a soft creamy white. Dividing hostas is seldom necessary, as far as the plant is concerned. But you may want to change things up, expand an edge or share with your neighbor.
