My Bible Wiki (the blog): The Story-week 24 (No Ordinary Man)
http://blog.mybiblewiki.com/2013/09/the-story-week-24-no-ordinary-man.html
Thursday, September 26, 2013. The Story-week 24 (No Ordinary Man). Jesus proclaims a message that upsets the religious establishment and changes the world. Jesus' teaching was like no other teaching. The religious leaders (the Scribes and Pharisees) were threatened and resisted. The common people flocked to Jesus to be healed and hear his teaching. The Sermon on the Mount (and specifically The Beatitudes) really turned them on their heads. Blessed means "sacred delight" (true happiness). I am not a train...

My Bible Wiki (the blog): The Story-week 25 (Jesus, The Son of God)
http://blog.mybiblewiki.com/2013/10/the-story-week-25-jesus-son-of-god.html
Tuesday, October 1, 2013. The Story-week 25 (Jesus, The Son of God). We must all deal with Jesus. Jesus claimed to be God. We all must deal with that claim. As CS Lewis (and others such as Josh McDowell) say:. Jesus was either a Lunatic. There are no other options. So can't say he was a just a great teacher. If we say we believe in Jesus:. There must be life change in us. There is great opportunity for life change in others. Claiming that Jesus is the Son of God brings eternal. Labels: Jesus is God.

Friday, May 31, 2013. The Story-week 19 (The Return Home). The Lord works through King Cyrus to restore his people to their land. The Lord moves in the heart of King Cyrus of Persia (the last kingdom to rule over the Israelites). Cyrus lets Israel go to Jerusalem to build rebuild the temple. When the people saw the foundation, many shouted with great joy, but many of the older priests wept (seemingly because the new temple did not have nearly the grandeur of the original). Some lessons about restoration:.

Monday, June 7, 2010. Others May, You Cannot. By G D. Watson (1845-1924). If God has called you to be really like Jesus He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility. God’s call will put such demands of obedience on you that you will not be able to follow other people, or measure yourself by other Christians. At times, He will let other people do things which He will not let you do. What is your only comfort in life and death? Heidelberg Catechism, Question #1. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Bible Wiki (the blog): The Story-week 23 (Jesus' Ministry Begins)
http://blog.mybiblewiki.com/2013/09/the-story-week-23-jesus-ministry-begins.html
Wednesday, September 18, 2013. The Story-week 23 (Jesus Ministry Begins). Jesus sets the example of baptism. Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. John tried to deter him, saying he [John] needed to be baptized by Jesus. But Jesus said it was proper . "To fulfill all righteousness". When Jesus came out of the water the Spirit of God descended on him, and a voice from heaven said "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased". Why was if fitting for John to baptize Jesus?

Thursday, July 3, 2014. On Temptation and True Freedom. Something I wrote to my teenage boys in June 2014 (part of a bigger write-up about the Christian Faith - knowing it, accepting it, living it, sharing it, etc.). Comes from the world or Satan, when Satan says: “come on do this thing, it will make you happy and no one will know you did it”, you need to say “let me check this with God’s word, let me see what Jesus would do, let me ask the Holy Spirit to guide me”, etc. But when we truly trust in Jesus.

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. The Story-week 14 (The Kingdom Torn in Two). After Solomon's death, the kingdom splits, with both the northern and southern kingdoms suffering under mostly evil kings. The (10) northern tribes rebel and break away. Jeroboam (a servant of Solomon) rules the (10) northern tribes - known as Israel. Rehoboam (Solomon's son) rules the (2) southern tribes - known as Judah. Both do evil in the site of The Lord. In fact, of the 19 northern kings, only one did "some good". 3) He fails to ...

Saturday, January 26, 2013. The Story-week 3 (Joseph: from a pit to the palace). One of my favorite characters in the bible is Joseph as he gives a great example of faithfulness in spite of being wrongly treated, several times. {blog author}. Faithfulness as seen through the life of Joseph. Joseph, the youngest of of the 12 sons of Israel (Jacob). Joseph was slightly arrogant and native when he shared his early dreams (of his brothers bowing down to him). The good and bad:. Later Pharaoh has a dream that...
