Shanghai Nights | mychineseadventures
https://mychineseadventures.wordpress.com/2011/07/21/shanghai-nights
What the Other Side of the World Looks Like. Last weekend I took a 5 hour ride on the Highspeed Rail to Shanghai. Our max speed was about 310 km/hour = 192 mph. China has a really elaborate system of highspeed rails that pretty much connect all the major cities. In Shanghai we stayed at a hostel- luckily a really nice one… with an incredible view of the city. We were within walking distance of The Bund, Nanjing St, lots of retail shops, and a Starbucks- in fact 5 nearby Starbucks. Jul 21, 2011. Fill in y...
A little Italian Culture in China | mychineseadventures
https://mychineseadventures.wordpress.com/2011/07/07/a-little-italian-culture-in-china
What the Other Side of the World Looks Like. A little Italian Culture in China. Yesterday after class we went to Culture Street where it was much more like the China I envisioned. There were tons of souvenirs… I didn’t end up buying anything though. Still waiting to see what Beijing is like. After a walk through the real China we were off to dinner on Italian Street. The dinner was great and then we heard a cool Chinese band singing Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, and the Eagles. Check out the video! Jul 07, 2011.
Squatters v. Sitters | mychineseadventures
https://mychineseadventures.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/squatters-v-sitters
What the Other Side of the World Looks Like. Squatters v. Sitters. Squat or sit… a question we Westerners take for granted. I mean thank God we have a choice! Well…. not in China…it’s squat or hold it. Let me just show you a picture…. Talk about culture shock… and no this was not used prior to taking the photo…thanks Mike for bringing that to my attention and suggesting the disclaimer. To all my friends in the states… hug your toilet.🙂. A little Italian Culture in China. Jul 12, 2011. Yikes, thats crazy!

A Lighter Monkey Bread | all she wants to do is bake
https://allshewantstodoisbake.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/a-lighter-monkey-bread
All she wants to do is bake. Baking on a budget. A Lighter Monkey Bread. February 19, 2012. All she wants to do is bake. The other day, I had a hankering for some Monkey Bread. However, I did not want to blow a bazillion calories on said treat, so here is what I did:. 1 package of Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Wheat Reduced Fat Biscuits (on sale at Publix for $1.00). 12 packets of sugar substitute (I used the Publix version of Sweet-N-Low). 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Agave Nectar Light or honey (about 2 TBS).

All she wants to do is bake. Baking on a budget. Quick Tip: Cutting made easy! January 23, 2012. All she wants to do is bake. One of the quick tips I have been using a lot lately really helps me when I am cutting either a brownie or bar recipe. By lining your pan with aluminum foil before baking, the creation easily comes out of the pan and makes cutting much easier! And tagged aluminum foil. About all she wants to do is bake. I am just a lady on a budget with new-found passion for all things baking.

All she wants to do is bake. Baking on a budget. January 24, 2012. All she wants to do is bake. This year, I am making an effort to healthify my baking and show ways to keep the cost down. I am not going to get crazy, but I am going to try some healthier alternatives in my baking and who knows, maybe even a vegan recipe or two for my new animal-free-food friends. I just need to stock my pantry with a few more essentials and then I will be ready for anything. Here we gooooo…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

My Chinese Appetite: Manna and non-manna from China
Manna and non-manna from China. Get your goods online. When I first came to Beijing I thought I needed to make do with either Chinese products, which didn’t really cover cake baking and so on, or fork out mega bucks for the limited range of international products at places like April Gourmet and Jenny Lou’s. But there is a lot more out there that most expats here just don’t know about…. My first discovery was Ziwei Hongbei. Continue reading ». Extra seasoning at the new Sanyuanli Market. CHINESE ASTROLOGY
Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Enter your search terms. The art of Chinese Astrology is based on the Chinese lunar calendar. Unlike Western astrology, which bases its major system - the Sun signs - on a 12 month cycle, giving a different influence to each month, Chinese astrology is based on cycles of 60 years. Each year is assigned both one of the 12 animals and one of the five elements - wood, water, air, earth and metal. Already it can be seen there are both similarities (both have 12 basic signs) and di...
