One child at a time…. They’re more like guidelines This insight has helped me to better understand what to look for in lessons, to think deeply about how to teach my students what they need to know to be successful. It is really exciting to hear stories about this level of differentiation happening in math, a discipline that seems so far behind in regards to individualizing instruction. As your example shows us, it can be done! March 16th, 2013 at 11:31. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Tag, your it.

One child at a time…. Last week I had the opportunity to watch some of my students participate in the play Willy Wonka Junior. They did a fantastic job! I enjoyed being able to chat a bit with them and their parents afterwards. The parents were so proud. I was too! March 19, 2013. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Teaching is… | respondingtothecall

One child at a time…. When I started this program I was asked to think of a metaphor for teaching. I chose the image of a bridge. After this week, I would like to suggest another metaphor, and that would be…. Yep, a roller coaster. There are many aspects to a roller coaster – steep ups, steep downs, corkscrews, tunnels, tight turns, slow starts, rapid middles and ends. Then you get off, catch your breath…and get in line again! One child at a time…. Another quarter here and gone. The saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun! In just a few short months, I will have a piece of paper that says I can teach, and some knowledge too! This quarter I made it my goal to comment at least once on every member in my cohorts blogs. It has been challenging, and I still have a few to comment to, but I have also been privileged to hear many different experiences and ideas about teaching. I have also continued to respond to people. Throughout my educational experience cellphones have been viewed as a distraction, a nuisance, and it has been viewed as very disrespectful to have a cellphone in the classroom. Liz has provided me with a very new insight to cellphones and ways that they can be utilized in schools and with children. Liz shared a video. On March 10, 2012 in Uncategorized.

One child at a time…. Two very different weeks…. Three weeks ago my CT was gone for the whole week. And I missed her. And I learned a lot while she was gone. I have been teaching math since January and soon I will take on another subject. Then it will be time to take on another subject, and then another, as I move toward taking on the entire day. It is truly amazing how fast time goes. March 2, 2013. Tags: Learning From Others. 5 responses to “Two very different weeks…”. March 4th, 2013 at 19:44. I’...
