The Other Mrs Beaton: Christmas cake in a day...
http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/2013/12/christmas-cake-in-day.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Friday, 6 December 2013. Christmas cake in a day. I have to admit I don't go a bundle on fruit cake -but the rest of the house do, and even though my mum is 'doing Christmas' this year, it's still nice to have one on the side board. There is absolutely no need to start this thing in August, harbour it in your dresser drawers, feed it lovingly and then spend 8 hours icing the thing.unless you really want to. I pinched a quick fruit cake recipe. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Other Mrs Beaton: Black Widow Spider Cupcakes...How to...
http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/2012/10/black-widow-spider-cupcakeshow-to.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Tuesday, 16 October 2012. Black Widow Spider Cupcakes. How to. In my head I would be able to control boiling hot sugar and make neat spider's webs, but the reality was far different, but surprisingly glamorous.I might even be tempted to wear these on my head as fascinators to Ascot. If I liked horse racing. Anyway, it's easy to do, but make sure there are no little helpers and a washing up bowl full of cold water on stand-by is sensible too. 1/4 cup caster sugar. 3 tbsp cold water.

The Other Mrs Beaton: The 2015 Handmade Fair: Knitted it, ate it, nailed it.
http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-2015-handmade-fair-knitted-it-ate.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Wednesday, 30 September 2015. The 2015 Handmade Fair: Knitted it, ate it, nailed it. It would've been rude not to go really, and in the name of research (ahem! Jaydee and myself set off for Hampton Court Palace. Please don't go all Henry VIII, it was the parky bit with tents and marquees and a whole heap of ladies getting their craft on. In the interests of gender equality, there were some chaps too, but you get the general idea. Was the expert on hand, who actually went cross eyed ...

The Other Mrs Beaton: Crochet bringing people together (amidst tears, swearing and wine)...
http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/2015/10/crochet-bringing-people-together-amidst.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Wednesday, 28 October 2015. Crochet bringing people together (amidst tears, swearing and wine). So nearly a year ago I wrote about a lovely lady. It's a tricky one this, because she passed away, very suddenly and left a lot of folk stunned, shocked and empty. It hurt. It wasn't really about what we made (although that looks pretty cool). It was about the talking. The 'getting through winter' thing. The remembering and trying to make sense of it all, when it really doesn'...So I hope...

http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/p/the-wednesday-project.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Since I've stopped work (teehee), my little man is out of nursery school on a Wednesday. Not wanting to be lured by 10 hours straight of kids TV, I thought we'd try something new on a Wednesday. Suits my perpetual need to lesson plan and makes me think of crafting not just from my point of view. All successes and disasters. Wednesday 13.Spiderman Cake. Wednesday 12.Googlie Eyed Aliens! Wednesday 11.Photo Booth silliness. Wednesday 10.Actually enjoying shopping with a pre-schooler.

Woolly stuff. hooked. Wednesday, 27 November 2013. Have yourself a merry little Stashmas.(or, Christmas makes using what you have in the cupboard). So this year, we moved house, dropped an income have two kids, need new hall carpets and I have a feeling the porch might squeak through this winter if I ignore the damp, but probably not next year. These would be great gifts for teachers filled with chocolate or posh coffee, or lovely pencil crayons.maybe that's just me. A size 4mm hook;. Foundation Row: Cha...

Woolly stuff. hooked. Thursday, 7 November 2013. Chunky Crochet MacBook Cover. Like Apple but not the generic plastic covers? Or don't have the budget for a super-swanky leather effort (even though we'd all love one really? At the end of the day I needed something to protect my new laptop from scratches, dust and damage, so I headed to Craftdays in Saffron Walden. To pick up some supplies. To cover one 11" MacBook Air). 100g Chunky Wool (grey). 100g chunky Wool (pink). Size 5mm and Size 7mm crochet hooks.

The Other Mrs Beaton: Changing Status: When do I stop being Red, White and Blue?
http://beatonsmismanagement.blogspot.com/2015/11/changing-status-when-do-i-stop-being.html
Woolly stuff. hooked. Thursday, 19 November 2015. Changing Status: When do I stop being Red, White and Blue? I was struck by a tricky modern dilemma this morning. My Facebook friends (thankfully many of whom are real life people who I can actually talk to, you know, face-to-face) started changing their profile pictures. Back. Monday marked the last day of national mourning and on Tuesday, Parisians tried to go back to work. Back to school. But you can't go back and make it better. We try so hard to conne...
