My Life with Gastroparesis. Sunday, November 15, 2009. What is bacterial overgrowth? One day, out of the blue, I felt sick. I couldn't eat. I started burping, which was weird since I wasn't eating or drinking. I had a weird, kind of 'rippling' feeling in my stomach that was not pleasant. Doc told me it might be bacterial overgrowth. The cure is antibiotics. I took Xifaxan, which is often prescribed for 'traveler's diarrhea'. It kills the bad bacteria. Once it was gone, I never wanted to get it again!

Foods It took me a long time to figure out what I. My diet varies by the day, depending on my symptoms that day. For example, today I am having a lot of acid reflux and fullness (even though I haven't eaten). So I'm sticking with liquids and pretzels today. I tolerate pretzels very well for some reason.
