At 3 1/2 years old she can write her name. Yesterday she wrote 'MOM' for the first time! And I mean she can write it clearly with the letters all the same size. Emma is in the church choir. Rich and I took the girls to the mountains last week. Golden Gate Canyon to be precise. It was a beautiful day. The sky was clear and the air was cool. Mothers, Daughters and Sisters. Friday, December 05, 2003. I awoke at 8am. Why hadn't Emma woken me at 6:30? The usual time she comes into my bedroom, pulls back my cozy flannel sheets and attempts to pull me out of bed. I knew something must be up! I quickly jumped out of bed in search of the unknown. Emma was having a wonderful morning, she had taken the Cadbury chocolate tree decorations off our 8ft tree and was enjoying the best breakfast a two year old could ask for. Mothers, Daughters and Sisters. Tuesday, March 02, 2004. We know one should feed them only a pinch of food at a time. Emma fed our friends fish the whole container of food. I didn't know until 24hrs after the incident. Our friend went to take a pinch of food but the container was empty. The tank was murky. There was still movement. At home I asked Emma if she had fed our friends fish. Oh, yes mummy", she replied, with a smile of achievement. Sadly only two fish survived. The food is well hidden!

We have been so busy eating Cadburys chocolate brought over by Emma's Auntie Lavinia from England, that I haven't had a spare moment to sit at the computer! Yesterday we went to Loveland ski area, so Lavinia and Hendrik could pose on the slopes. I decided that Emma should have a go at skiing too. After some clever 'Mummy" persuasion. Mothers, Daughters and Sisters. Saturday, December 13, 2003. Last night we took Emma to see Disney on Ice at the Pepsi Center. Eyes wide in wonderment. Never before had we seen so many children in one place. Never before had we seen such expensive concession stands! I had forgotten what a fun sensation it is to feel it dissolve on your tongue. Friday, October 31, 2003. Obligatory cute kids in their costumes entry. Wouldn’t that be great? He sighed at me and patted his belly, upon which he already was wearing the Shoopershirt. Mama, he said slowly, as one might to a very stupid child, Ah. Am. Shooperman. So I managed to peel the shirt off him so I could wash it, and tonight he wore it, complete with red cape. Not a lot has happened in the last year. Emma has been relatively healthy, one severe chest infection before Christmas and that has been it for pneumonia. This Spring she has been fighting a UTI so we are dealing with that right now. The major thing we are trying to do right now is to get Emma's seizures under control.
