http://www.myeltrambles.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Joanna m-My ELT rambles. A blog about teaching English (EFL, ESP, EAP). The 'girlie' side of ELT. Thursday, September 18, 2014. One to one lessons. My one to one lesson procedure. I have been teaching one to one sessions for a very long time now and I thought it would be a good idea to share with you the steps of my one to one lessons. Greet the learner and start the chit chat. Follow up with another question. I always have mini conversations. Icing on the cake. The aims of the lesson. I tell my learner ...

Joanna m-My ELT rambles. A blog about teaching English (EFL, ESP, EAP). The 'girlie' side of ELT. Tuesday, June 24, 2014. The post about summarising. Last week, I wrote my first post about academic writing. My focus then was on addressing plagiarism and helping learners develop strategies that will enable them to paraphrase information in order to integrate sources into their own writing and then cite it (you can read that post here. Another writing skill your students need to develop is summarising.

Joanna m-My ELT rambles. A blog about teaching English (EFL, ESP, EAP). The 'girlie' side of ELT. I have been a freelance ELT teacher for more than fifteen years now. I usually teach general English classes and as exams are a growing body in Greece, I quite often teach exam classes, too. I come from a different theoretical background though, as my first studies were in social psychology and I cannot really recall how I came into this profession. I think it was just destined and it took care of itself!

Joanna m-My ELT rambles. A blog about teaching English (EFL, ESP, EAP). The 'girlie' side of ELT. Thursday, February 19, 2015. I was really pleased with today's session. They went from talking about something ordinary to something extraordinary. So, what did I do? Normal everyday pics- Stage One. Choose 2 of the pictures you feel you can talk the most about. Tell me what you see and whatever else you think connects to the picture. There is no time limit. Speak for as long as you can. I also wrote a few q...

Teacher's Pet
http://nastyageinrikh.blogspot.com/2015/04/between-moving-houses-and-preparing-for.html
Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Thursday, April 23, 2015. The surprising thing for me was that my lessons weren't that bad. I would even say some of them were pretty good/successful. And then I remembered other times when I spent hours searching for the right material, typing, drawing, printing and then seeing bored faces of my students and feeling a great disappointment in myself. So what the hell happened here? What's the secret for a "good" lesson? Black pencils" eltpics by @JosetteLB.

Teacher's Pet: Some revelations concerning quizlet ...
http://nastyageinrikh.blogspot.com/2015/05/some-revelations-concerning-quizlet.html
Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Friday, May 22, 2015. Some revelations concerning quizlet . Or practice what you preach. About a year ago and, like many people, instantly realised what a great service it is. I started recommending it to all my students. Some took up on it very quickly, others were a bit hesitant. So understanding how important proper introduction is I introduced Quizlet to one of my teenage groups in the language school last September. There was a lesson number one for me. Not sure how I ...
Teacher's Pet: Anna Loseva Flashmob in elt
http://nastyageinrikh.blogspot.com/2015/03/anna-loseva-flashmob-in-elt.html
Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Anna Loseva Flashmob in elt. Is it teachers dancing in organised groups after classes? Is it a group of students deciding on telling the teacher there was no homework last time (and the teacher going crazy)? None of that and quite the opposite- a tool that will make teacher's life a bit easier and a bit more interesting. And type away) and the results are truly inspiring - you get to peek into a class in Korea, Croatia, the USA or many more. MELTin...

Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Group Discussions Day 3 #emf5. The forum traditionally concludes with special interest group discussions and following presentations. I was looking forward to this part as last time we had a blast. This time we got into the group of around 10 teachers and started brainstorming. Our topic was technology and we were supposed to come up with a short bit of advice/idea/solution based on our experience in the forum. Why might it have happened:. As they ...

http://nastyageinrikh.blogspot.com/2014/12/skype-lessons_30.html
Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. This year I started teaching via skype for the first time and have been doing it for about 6 months now. Although, I still feel pretty much like a novice in online education, there are couple of tips resources I found useful along the way. If you're a skype rookie as well, maybe you'll find them useful. 1 Have a headset. 2 Think of the ways you can use the camera. Sometimes it got interesting :). Lesson ideas, activities, efl. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Emf5 Day 3 Pleanary Talks. The last two plenary talks in the forum were devoted to technology in learning languages. They were coming from different places but, in my opinion, had ultimately the same message. On the other hand, students are not passive objects of the educational process and their.
