This past Saturday, I attended the Brookhaven Little Theater Jr's production of "Shrek the Musical" with the faculty and staff at Hurst Review. The performers were well trained, extremely talented, and their passion for the arts was evident. The theater itself is a gem, well maintained, comfortable, and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the people living in Brookhaven. In 2010, we discovered that we had a very special demographic becoming incurably infected with "The Theatre Bug". Too old for Drama Camp, yet often too young for principal roles in our regular productions, local teenagers had nowhere to test their theatrical wings. Brookhaven Little Theatre is one of the oldest continually running community theaters in the state of Mississippi. Its first production was “You Can’t Take It With You” in April of 1968. Since that time BLT has performed approximately 150 plays, playlets and readings. The mission of Brookhaven Little Theatre is to expose people of all ages to the arts. It also feels it is a partner with many who want Downtown Brookhaven to remain a vibrant and active place of shopping, eating, entertainment and living.

The Save the Haven campaign began in 2004. A committee of concerned citizens was formed with the goal of completely renovating the building into a community Performing Arts Center.
