S the light enter the eye it is focused on the retina to give clear image. The lens, normally shaped eyeball and cornea are needed to get a perfect image. But it is not always so and you need corrective specks to see clearly. To check the required glasses we use retinoscope to get approximate idea of glass power required and then put the different lenses in trial frame we get the final power. PRK ( Laser photo refractive keratomy )

PRK ( Laser Photo Refractive Keratectomy ). N this light rays from excimer laser is focused on the corneal surface. This vaporizes corneal tissue and changes its curvature. This is all controlled by sophisticated computer. Thus the power is reduced. Recovery period is longer than lasik procedure. It may take 5 6 months for stabilization of vision and may be a year. Recommended to correct upto 8 dioptre only. May cause corneal scarring resulting in glare and reduced vision. UV Rays and Eye Diseases.

AMBLYOPIA / LAZY EYE. Mblyopia is poor development of vision in one eye. It is seen in 0.4% of the population. It can be treated only in early childhood (up to 8 years of age) so early check up of eye at 4-5 years should be done. Vision is not fully developed in newborn baby. It develops gradually till 8 years of age. However if one eye is not used vision of the eye will not develop fully. This is amblyopia or lazy eye.
