Benham Family History: Letters re: Benhams

http://www.myfamilylines-benham.blogspot.com/2009/04/letters-re-benhams.html

Saturday, April 18, 2009. From a letter by W.C. Benham:. I have a note taken from History of Southwest Vairginia and Washington county, Virginia by Summersi that states that during late 1770 or 80 a Benham boy volunteered to accompany an Indian fighter named Doughlas to cross a mountain to warn residents of Castlewood of Indians. On their way Douglas was killed and scalped but Benham escaped and warned the settlers. This was one of John Benham's (d. 1800) sons" #123. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

My Family Lines: December 2013

http://myfamilylines.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 28, 2013. Eliza Jane Elder, my fourth great-grandmother. For my grandmother, this picture is more than a decoration on the wall. It's a legacy of love, a reminder of her past, and an acknowledgement of eyes that are still watching over her. She recently said that she has felt like her great-grandmother has looked after her throughout her life, and the presence of her photograph on her wall remains an important part of her home. My Family Lines: February 2015

http://myfamilylines.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 16, 2015. I was doing a quick internet image search today for some old maps of the United States and came across an awesome post by a cartographer, David Rumsey. He has a whole collection of old maps that are amazing to look at. What interested me the most, however, was this post about 19th Century Maps by Children. Back in the early 19th century, in order for children to learn geography they were actually taught to draw maps. The results are amazing. I'm looking forward to using this we...

My Family Lines: May 2011

http://myfamilylines.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 30, 2011. As I have climbed our family tree. I have not found any royalty. No kings or presidents can I boast. And I have searched from coast to coast. History books don't record their name. And none are known for fortune and fame. Our people earned their living tilling the soil. They earned their bread by hard labor and toil. They worked from sun up to sun down. To tend their stock and clear their ground. All day they followed behind their plow. No there is no royalty in my family line,.

Our Family Genealogy

South Pasadena Reunion - Jan 1947. We human beings love a mystery. One of the great things about genealogy is that when you solve one mystery, others present themselves. It is a never ending story. For years I collected information about my family, but was so busy with family, work, and home I did not have time to organize the information. After I became a grandparent, I found time to not only organize the data, but to research and add to our knowledge of our family lineage. What will be their values?
