The Storyteller: But is it racist . . . . ?
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015/07/but-is-it-racist.html
Tuesday, July 28, 2015. But is it racist . . . ? Let me kick things off here by reminding you that I'm not an expert on nearly. 8211; notice I said nearly! But there are some things happening which are out of proportion and I wanted to comment. One of the things which dismayed me recently was when someone who. Was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discoveries of protein molecules that control the division of cells,. I'm glad he was fired. There he is up there – Tim Hunt. It's str...

The Storyteller: February 2015
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. A day in the life . . . There I am – above – that was in the BBC Shakespeare series As You Like It. With Helen Mirren – no I'm not fighting Helen Mirren! That thing in my right hand is my sword – it seems to be angled right at the camera so you can't see it properly. It's not my hair, of course, and that thing at the top of my legs is a small cod piece. By Ben Johnson – not the runner, the 17. I did The Alchemist at The Royal Theatre. Northampton and we stayed on in Northamp...

The Storyteller: December 2014
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Happy Hogmanay to you. I have many happy memories of it at new year's eve parties and watching it on TV – letting the new year in. I had black hair so I did a lot of 'first footing' – that is going out with a lump of coal and knocking the door as soon as I heard the midnight bells. My brudder did it too as his hair was blacker than mine. My brudder too with his blacker hair and deeper thirst for the whiskey and the kisses. I suppose this was very handy when something boring ...

The Storyteller: Aubrey Morris; RIP.
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015/07/aubrey-morris-rip.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Aubrey Morris; RIP. Above you will see my dear friend, Aubrey Morris, who died last Wednesday. I knew Aubrey since around 1984 when we made a film together. Ten years later, when I was moving to Los Angeles his brother, Woolf, also an actor, told me to look him up and gave me his phone number in LA. He was 89 on June 1. 8211; he was born the exact day as Marilyn Monroe – and I tried to call him but his voice mail was all I was greeted with. I always remember one of his scenes in th...

The Storyteller: July 2015
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. One of the first things I said this morning was “White Rabbits;” I hardly know why I said it but I have been saying it for most of my life. My mother told me to say it and like a good little boy that's what I've been doing. But when I hear those magic words, 'This is the shipping forecast for today August 1. 2015' I say 'White Rabbits.'. Low, Rockall, 9 7 3 moving northwards, losing its identity by same time. New low expected Malin by that time. South-Easterly gale force 8 increasi...

The Storyteller: June 2015
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Some time ago I stayed in a flat in west London. It wasn't exactly a tower block but I was on the 10. Floor which was high enough for me. Next door to our block was another block which was a kind of twin building; Siamese twinned, actually, or is it politically correct to call it conjoined. (I put this in just in case I offend other conjoined buildings). I suppose it was really a single building with two different front entrances. Over we have pieces of string or rope with a sligh...

The Storyteller: Movie Star.
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015/06/movie-star.html
Monday, June 8, 2015. I had quite a bit of reaction to the last post I wrote about LGBT and Hollywood, apart from the comments, and they were mainly about the building I lived in and the movie star or stars etc. They didn't flaunt it at you but you knew it existed somewhere so it didn't matter who you met, whether it was someone for the first time or an old friend; you would never bring up the script. To be fair a lot of people who had scripts. But the building itself was wonderful. That label has been u...

The Storyteller: May 2015
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 11, 2015. When I first got to Los Angeles the first place I headed for was Sunset Boulevard; I had heard of it and I really needed to see it. Many years ago we lived in Shropshire and we could receive TV from the Midlands, North West and very faintly Wales. One night I was channel surfing and a movie came on the Welsh channel; it was very foggy as we were receiving from the back end of our ariel, and even though I had to watch as if I had double cataract eye sight, I was intrigued by the movie.

The Storyteller: 1922 - Dublin.
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2015/07/1922-dublin.html
Saturday, July 4, 2015. The Siege of the 'Four Courts' Dublin 1922. It's been 24 years since my dad died and on the day he died I had to drive up to my parents' bungalow in Northampton. Now for my American friends who have a different meaning for the word bungalow, I have to explain over here it means something different from over there. The word comes from India, as do so many of our words: shampoo. Etc, in fact bungalow is a Hindi. Word which, I reckon is the most popular language in India; Roman.

The Storyteller: October 2014
http://storytelleronamazon.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. The Scroll - my small movie from 1990. I made a film about 25 years ago and for the past week or two I have been very busy re-cutting it. Only a half hour or so long – well 28 minutes – and I've cut it down to about 22. The reason I did this was because, after all these years, I can. Even today I listen to the so called American voices in the plays on Radio 4 and they are awful; even then I didn't want anybody but an American doing it. As the writer and director on the picture h...
