Swindon Open Studios: Welcoming People to Swindon Open Studios
http://swindonopenstudios.blogspot.com/2015/08/welcoming-people-to-swindon-open-studios.html
Friday, 14 August 2015. Welcoming People to Swindon Open Studios. This year we've tried to address a couple of issues identified over the years. Firstly that we don't advertise enough in the local media, with four large articles in the Swindon Advertiser, and more to come, I'm pleased with efforts we've made there. It was largely down to Liz Mackley at the Adver who got things moving for us, and of course the very talented people who are taking part in SOS. Next article was about Christopher Delni-Offord.

Swindon Open Studios: January 2015

Saturday, 31 January 2015. The GWR Carriage Works, Water Tower and UTC. There couldn't really be a greater contrast between the Swindon Designer Outlet, a shopping complex built within the disused Swindon railway engine works. And the former Carriage and Wagon works. Built in 1868, and on the opposite side of Station Road to the railway village, the Carriage Works are still waiting for new life to be breathed into them, by finding a role in the twenty first century. The outside of the building:. And besi...

Swindon Open Studios: April 2015
http://swindonopenstudios.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 29 April 2015. Artsite Associates Spring Exhibition until 2nd May. The opening night of the exhibition was last Friday, apologies that this post comes too late for that. There is still time however to see the exhibition which runs until Saturday. I've included a small selection of the work on show, mainly people taking part in Open Studios this year, with the exception of Dee Carter, you can see more of work by these artists then. Above 'The Lakes' work in progress by Dee Carter. What a marath...

Swindon Open Studios: February 2015

Monday, 16 February 2015. Snowdrop Mania at Colesbourne Park. I made my first visit to the magnificent Colesbourne Park yesterday, quite unprepared for the scale of the park, and numbers of different varieties of snowdrops growing in huge drifts. There's a well labelled path through the grounds taking the visitor through woodland, beside the blue lake, to the churchyard and the walled garden where you'll find smaller clumps of snowdrops, identified by good sized, clear labels. Above G.'James Backhous...

Swindon Open Studios: December 2014

Sunday, 28 December 2014. My Favourite Route to Avebury. It was sunny and crisply frosty this morning, perfect for a walk to Avebury. I have a favourite route involving very little traffic, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. From Swindon, walking by Croft Woods and down the path beside the entrance to the golf course, across the motorway and up Ladder Lane, an old drover's route to Marlborough:. Past the ancient beech tree, now felled, and turn left onto the Barbury Castle road by Halcrow. It's ...

Swindon Open Studios: June 2015

Sunday, 28 June 2015. Photos of the Garden at Oare House. Oare House was open this afternoon from 2-6pm for the NGS. So what attracted attention this time? The first glimpse of the view from the driveway is breath taking, but I didn't take a photo of that, preferring the first view of the garden:. And on the left of this walkway, a small fountain. And some gorgeous Hostas, this was particularly attractive. Then outside one of the side doors, a pair of Daturas. And a fab P. Lord Bute. Another area of the ...

Susan's Scribbles
http://susansscribblesnscrawls.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-in-arts.html
Monday, February 9, 2009. I subscribed, but didn't get it as an email today (shirley@queso.com). Please consider including some issues on artists sketchbooks. I'm currently rereading the issues of the ARTSISTS SKETCHBOOK magazine that I bought before it went out of business. Many EDMers LOVED it - and look everywhere for similar art content. February 9, 2009 at 10:54 AM. Love you blog, by the way. I will certainly keep in mind the info on sketchbooks. Have you read Danny Gregory's newest book yet?
