This Blessed Life: September 2012
http://thisblessedlife-km.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 25, 2012. To Haiti and Back: Part Two. We did wake up on time and went to the courtyard to meet Ivinge at our agreed upon time. This was our first real life lesson in Haitian time. Having no idea how long it would take us to get to the airport, we were getting antsy. But now we knew how to contact Ivinge! So Mitch called him and all he could really understand from the other end was, "Menning! Still, we were glad to have Ivinge there with us to make sure we got where we needed to go.

Darling Kate and Ellie Dear: November 2012
http://darlingkateandelliedear.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Darling Kate and Ellie Dear. Saturday, November 10, 2012. Not long after my daughters arrived from Haiti, we encountered the first of hundreds of interesting remarks made to us. I was standing in line juggling my four children and groceries at WalMart when an employee demanded, "So are they sisters? I replied, "Yes, they are sisters," to which she said in an exasperated tone, "But are they BIOLOGICAL sisters? As my kids ask, "So what's the moral of the story? To borrow from Lewis Carroll:. Please pray fo...

This Blessed Life: February 2012

Friday, February 10, 2012. A Letter To My Son. Dear Boy of Mine,. I wish so much that I could be with you tomorrow to wish you a Happy Second Birthday! A big sloppy kiss rather than just the framed picture of you that we have in our dining room. For now, sweet boy, I am forced to trust God with His timing. Usually it's with feet kicking and sometimes with fists to the sky, but God's working something in us through all of this waiting. Loving you from way too far away,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

This Blessed Life: December 2011
http://thisblessedlife-km.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 3, 2011. It came on Thursday of this week and I still can't quite believe it. The amazing orphanage where our children currently live, sent little boy's handprints and a Thanksgiving picture made from little girl's hand and feet tracings! My God who holds all people, all time, all everything in his loving hands. Including me. Including my family, even though we are apart. Yes, my children in Haiti are real. And so is my God! Friday, July 12, 2013. Daniel lost a tooth! Daniel told me the other day that his tongue hurt. I looked at it and there was nothing wrong. Then he told me to look in his mouth. There, right behind his adorable little baby teeth was an adult tooth popping through! The loose tooth drove him crazy. Every 10 minutes he made me look at it and complained that it hurt. Andrew and I wiggled it for him constantly just to get it out of there. Links to this post. Sunday, July 7, 2013. Links to this post. Check thes...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. As most of you know, Wilson Manno had to be admitted to the hospital this week for what was supposed to be a quick procedure and overnight stay. Instead, it turned into several procedures and two overnights. The good news is that many tests were done and his amazing doctor and nurse practitioner now have a good plan to get him healthy. The view from outside of our door. (this photo was obtained illegally.). A gift from Gramma and Grandad:. Chicken and rice and yogurt! For tho...

Monday, August 4, 2014. Readoption and Name Change. This was taken in the family waiting room. Cook County does not allow cameras inside the court room so there are no pictures with the judge. Don't mind Daniel. He was having a moment). The boys loved looking down on the view from inside the courthouse. Better lighting and backdrop outside of the Daley Center building. During our walk back to the parking ramp, we stopped at Corner Bakery for a celebratory snack: monster cookies. Links to this post. 8x10 ...

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. While at my parents' house, we celebrated Andrew's 'almost' birthday. He requested a meal at Cracker Barrel (there may have been some help from Gramma with that decision). Several years ago, one of the boys asked for a 'pie in the face' as part of his celebration with Gramma and Grandad. My mom was happy to oblige and a new birthday tradition started. This year, Wilson got in on the fun. Links to this post. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Giving me the 'OK' sign. He's in there&#...

Hires Party of 7: Why adoption?
http://teamhires.blogspot.com/2013/05/why-adoption.html
Hires Party of 7. The Journey of our Expanding Family. Thursday, May 16, 2013. I am a runner. Why, many of you lovelies ask me? Well, because I am crazy! That's the answer every non-runner seems to want to hear since those that ask would rather have a root canal or birth another child than get up at 4:45 in the morning to be ready to join me by 5:15am to run for an hour). So the real reason I started running long distance? Why is this relevant to our adoption story? Let's start with -. Adoption is our ob...
