My awesome parents were recently here in Indonesia for a visit, so I figured I'd dedicate this post to the fun we had in Indo:. Strolling along the peaceful beach in Sanur, Bali. Monday, March 10, 2014. My sister recommended I make my return to the blogosphere with a post about my experiences as a "new biker." I'll provide the highlights with a quick timeline:. I bought my first road bike while I was home for Christmas. I enjoyed a test ride around the neighborhood with Clare and Papa. I returned to Jakarta and braved the crazy Jakarta roads for my first real ride, which was much better than I expected. A fun ride with Clare and Papa. Or Dengue-Dengue as Phil likes to call it.

Wednesday, May 22, 2013. All in a day's work. Last Saturday, I enjoyed a day that allowed me to be muddy and sweaty in the morning and then transform into Cinderella at night:. I woke up at 5:00am to head out for a beautiful trail run in hills outside Jakarta. There had been a major storm the night before, so the trails were muddy and fun! Thursday, May 16, 2013. Friday, June 28, 2013. I've been dealing with annoying ear issues since high school, and I finally decided to fix it for good. I visited an ENT in Florida on the Tuesday I returned from Indonesia, and he scheduled me for surgery on Thursday. I like that doctors in FL move quickly! I had tympanoplasty surgery to repair the perforated eardrum in my right ear. This photo was shortly after waking up and finally receiving the right dosage of drugs to relieve the splitting pain in my head. La vida es una sola.

Thursday, December 27, 2012. I spy a green stroller. One of my Christmas presents to Clare and Isaac was a day at Chuck E. Cheese - one of their favorite places. We arrived shortly after it opened and we had the entire place to ourselves.it was great! Apparently one of Isaac's "things" is pushing a stroller, so he attempted to take it with him everywhere he went. She also had fun with the games :). Redeeming all of her hard-earned tickets! Apparently cotton candy is one of Clare's "things" :).

Sunday, January 18, 2015. Christmas with the kiddos. I braved the long journey from Indonesia to Florida to spend the holidays with my family. Spoiling my niece and nephews is always a highlight of my visit. :). The annual gingerbread house (aka frosting-eating activity). Lunch date at Clare's school. Science experiments - making homemade playdough (and a big mess! I took Isaac to Build-a-Bear to pick out his first bear. He chose Spiderman Bear, and he loves him already. :). Making a wish for Spidey.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013. It's the rainy season in Indonesia, and Jakarta was hit pretty hard last week. Much of the city was under water, with at least 20 people dying and up to 50,000 people left homeless. If you do a Google image search for " Jakarta floods. The line of cars on the other side was backed up for a long time. All along this stretch people were buying inflatable rafts to float through the flooded areas. The rain makes campus a bit messy.
