Life on the Golden Hill: The Bohner Homestead
http://myheritageart.blogspot.com/2011/04/bohner-homestead.html
Saturday, April 2, 2011. I am very happy to introduce a work of art which is very close to my heart. This is the way my mother remembers our home. It's titled "The Bohner Homestead" Published from an original pastel painting of the Bohner/Reed homestead; established in the early 1900’s and later referred to as the Golden Hill. Charlotte (Reed) Byerly's portrayal of common life, has been recalled from passed down stories, old photographs, and the carefree days as a young girl playing in the grassy meadows.
Life on the Golden Hill: Harvest Home
http://myheritageart.blogspot.com/2011/10/harvest-home.html
Thursday, October 27, 2011. A few weeks ago I took a walk down the road from our house. The corn was beginning to turn brown and there was a familiar smell in the air. You know, that earthy smell when the leaves are turning from green to brilliant colors of red, orange and gold. It won't be long until the harvest. I pondered how many times. This field was plowed, planted and harvested. Green Foxtails holding on to summer. A hint of yellow coming from behind reveals their destiny. I'll try to remember the...

And catching up on all the engagements, weddings and new babies that have arrived since our last gathering. This is our dear "Nana" Clara Reed who could always be seen holding a little one. Life on the Golden Hill: Happy Hands
http://myheritageart.blogspot.com/2011/05/happy-hands.html
Tuesday, May 24, 2011. The rains have been so frequent that I've put off planting and working in my flower beds. I finally decided that "sun or no sun" I need to get outside and plant some flowers. There's just something so therapeutic about digging in the dirt, feeling the moisture of the soil and nurturing flowers is a God-given instinct that kicks in automatically every Spring. The rains have kept my hands from being happy. I recently took a trip with my daughter to the beach. It was a wonderful t...

Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Quilting a Family Tradition. Quilting has been a part of our family for many years. My grandmother kept every scrap of fabric, no matter how small.
