Journeys of a Deaf Girl: January 2009
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2009. Hearing For A Day. I have been a little absent from blogging for a few weeks. Classes just started up again and I have been preoccupied with fighting for equal access for d/Deaf students at my university. Today I want to talk about what I would do if I were to be hearing for a day. If I had 24 hours with perfect hearing, what would I do with it? That is enough for tonight! Monday, January 5, 2009. School. I wanted to share! Mr Addison was a tall, slender, nerdy looking man. ...

Journeys of a Deaf Girl: September 2008
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. Bad Deaf Days", "Bad Hearing Days", and Wonderful Moments When It All Fits! One thing he talked about was having a "Bad Blind Day" and it got me thinking about my own life. I have "Bad Deaf Days" and "Bad Hearing Days". I was even confused about how I can have both. When I speak of having a "Bad Hearing Day" I am referring. Does that make Sunday a "Bad Deaf Day"? My mind drifted back to Friday. My friend and just trying to relax before the two hour long lecture. It is very har...

Journeys of a Deaf Girl: Deaf vs. deaf
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2009/04/deaf-vs-deaf.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. Deaf vs. deaf. The notion of the binary is something that is often challenged in the discussion of identity. Many binary scales are opposed in anti-oppression frameworks, perhaps the most famous and common being the gender binary of male and female followed by the race related binary of black and white. However, one binary that I rarely find challenged is that of Deaf and deaf. Or maybe they would shake hands and get to know one another? In May the true test will become a reality ...

Journeys of a Deaf Girl: December 2008
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 17, 2008. I heard the words "hot dog", "colour", "doctor", and one other word that I can't remember anymore. There were a lot of other words said that I missed but I got a few. I have an exam that I need to study for now, so that is it for today! Tuesday, December 16, 2008. The Reality of Inclusion. Monday, December 15, 2008. Slowly, I began to open up about this life altering need of mine. I started to feel comfortable enough to let those that I love and trust know about it’...

Journeys of a Deaf Girl: My Ears Hear Wrong
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2009/04/my-ears-hear-wrong.html
Monday, April 27, 2009. My Ears Hear Wrong. My ears hear wrong. It is a plain fact. There is no point in hiding it, trying to conceal it, or doing anything other than embrace it. My eyes continue to dart around the room as I start to focus on my tactile sense. I am feeling lots of thing. The most obvious are the footsteps of the person walking in front of me. Through my notebook I can feel the vibrations of the voice of the man next to me. Neither of these match the sound. October 16, 2009 at 6:10 PM.

http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2010/12/where-have-all-deaf-feminists-gone.html
Thursday, December 9, 2010. Where have all the Deaf feminists gone? Part of my role with both my business and within my community is to facilitate workshops. Most of my workshops are around Deaf culture and access. Tomorrow I will be facilitating a workshop for hearing professionals who work with Deaf women who have experienced violence. I use violence as an all encompassing term to me anything from domestic violence, to stranger rape, to childhood abuse. November 9, 2011 at 4:32 PM. Nice to meet yall!

Journeys of a Deaf Girl: February 2009
http://journysofadeafgirl.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 21, 2009. I recently returned to Toronto after spending a week in the small town where I am from. For that one week while I was there I was oral only. I normally live “voice off” but when I am in my home town that is pretty much impossible given the mentality there and people expecting me to speak. Today I ordered my tea in ASL at Starbucks. The person working was fluent in ASL and it was great to see that. Then I went to Indigo and at the cash the woman know some basic ASL....Educa...
