I roasted 1 lb on this batch to give some to a friend (and fellow roaster). I tried to keep as many of my previous settings to allow for comparison from my previous batch. Preheat: 430 degrees at 3″ WC. Drop Beans – Cut Gas. 2:00 – 225. 2:30 – Start gas 2.0″. 3:00 – 280. 4:00 – 315 (2.5″ WC). 5:00 – 345 (2.0″ WC). 6:00 – 370 (1.0″ WC). 6:30 – 380 First Crack. 2nd Attempt at Guatemala. August 7, 2014. I set out to try another batch of the Guatemala Volcan de Fuego Guacatepeque. What I did learn (or relearn), was that I had to stabilize the preheat temperature. I believe there was a lot of residual from such a high setting during my preheat. I also decided that reducing the heat wasn’t enough to decrease the temperature rise over time. I would have to cut the burners completely off. 2:00 – 275. 3:00 – 311. 4:00 – 330. 6:00 – 345. 8:00 – 365. 11:00 – 391.
