What is "Direct Access"? In New York State, as of December 2006, treatment can be given by a Licensed Physical Therapist without a prescription from your medical provider. Under Direct Access, a physical therapist has authorization to treat you for 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. Please call your insurance company to be certain they allow for care under Direct Access. At this time, patients with Workers Compensation, No Fault and Medicare insurances can NOT be seen through Direct Access.
