April 20, 2013. I wanted to share a very special recipe which was cooked by my grandmother. I love this recipe because its very simple and unique. Its a khichdi (rice lentil one pot meal) made from Urad Dal. Its served with chopped onions fried in ghee. Its perfect for Sunday nights or times when we don’t want to cook an elaborate meal. Rice – 1 cup. Urad Dal (Split but with skin) – 1 cup. Water – 3 cups. Red Onion – 1/2. Heat ghee in small pan and fry chopped red onions. Serve on khichdi and enjoy.
