Across the Pond: Happy St. Patrick's Day
http://erietoloire.blogspot.com/2010/03/happy-st-patricks-day.html
Thursday, March 18, 2010. Happy St. Patrick's Day. It was more like Christmas for me. So after a surprisingly painless hour and a chest x-ray I walked out of the office a legal foreign resident in France! Incidentaly, it was a spectacularly beautiful day in Nantes so I took advantage of my good mood and spent the afternoon reading in the park and playing basketball in the sun. I figured I could afford a break from the job search after such a productive morning. But my day wasn't over yet. Jam of the week.

Everyday Life: Thanksgiving.. a little later than usual.
http://janmariebowling.blogspot.com/2011/12/thanksgiving-little-later-than-usual.html
The search for something more than merely existence. Friday, December 23, 2011. Thanksgiving. a little later than usual. I have tried to write a new post now for months. I keep coming to this page uninspired and to be honest, a little sad. I begin a post, type out a sentence but immediately my middle finger glides over to the delete button to erase whatever it was that I had just finished typing. Posted by Jan Marie. Across the Pond: March 2010

Friday, March 26, 2010. Learning from my Students. I had my first instance of a student crying in class today, and I almost cried myself. It was a pretty emotional moment and I'm not sure I handled it as well as I could have. I have been using an activity in class the last few weeks where students roll a die and move a marker around a game board. Each space on the board prompts them to share a little information about themselves. Most are fairly mundane (What is your favorite meal? What are you proud of?

Across the Pond: This is France?
http://erietoloire.blogspot.com/2010/04/this-is-france.html
Tuesday, April 13, 2010. The island is about 40 km long and its cost is covered with caves, cliffs, arches and beautiful beaches. The water is crystal clear and already about 12 degrees C. The island is also full of pheasant, rabbits and huge hares. I came to expect to see a little herd of the three species in every field we passed. The island reminded me a lot of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tom and Cornelius, gazing west from Concarneau.

Across the Pond: July 2010
http://erietoloire.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Chamonix was spectacular and I really enjoyed getting to know the town and the incredible scenery that surrounds it. The kids have classes every afternoon and, while they complain very little, are less interested in strenous hikes than Marissa and I. They appreciate the views that reward them at the ends, but I nevertheless have begaun a list of treks I would like to do when I come back to the Chamonix Valley. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Everyday Life: i am the best blogger ever
http://janmariebowling.blogspot.com/2011/08/i-am-best-blogger-ever.html
The search for something more than merely existence. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I am the best blogger ever. My heart hurts. I am so torn. I am being pulled in so many directions, not wanting to let anyone down, including myself. I have to remember too, the times when all I wished for was to be back in the comfort of my home, my language, and my culture. There is a time and a place for everything and I guess God is calling me for something else right now. Posted by Jan Marie. August 16, 2011 at 1:41 PM.

Across the Pond: Budapest
http://erietoloire.blogspot.com/2010/02/budapest.html
Monday, February 22, 2010. I just got back from a week-long trip to visit my old friend Matt in Budapest. Matt is there for the year tutoring English for underprivileged Hungarian kids. He shares an apartment with a French guy and three "Ukrainian boys" about 30 min by metro from the city center.
