Stirring the Pot: December 2014
http://mykentuckyhome-kim.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 28, 2014. Raffy's Quinoa and Ceci Soup. I love the episodes of Giada at Home where Aunt Raffy comes over and cooks with Giada. Those two ladies are a riot in the kitchen! I must admit that I love it when Aunt Raffy gives Giada a hard time. I just find it very entertaining. What's more is that they always cook something delicious that begs to be made, like Aunt Raffy's Quinoa and Ceci Soup. It's a win-win all around. Raffy's Quinoa and Ceci Soup. Adapted from Food Network. 1/4 cup extra-v...
Stirring the Pot: Celebrate Summer With A Frozen Watermelon Slush
http://mykentuckyhome-kim.blogspot.com/2015/06/celebrate-summer-with-frozen-watermelon.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. Celebrate Summer With A Frozen Watermelon Slush. When I arrived home safely, watermelon in hand, I decided to give this particular watermelon a special treatment. I had watermelon margaritas on my mind, but the kids were begging for watermelon, so whatever I chose needed to be kid-friendly. Thankfully, I found this recipe for Frozen Watermelon Slush in Jacques Pepin's book and it was perfect! Adapted from Essential Pepin. 1 medium watermelon (about 12 pounds). The perfect refresh...
Stirring the Pot: Jacques Pépin's Penne Au Gratin
http://mykentuckyhome-kim.blogspot.com/2015/07/jacques-pepins-penne-au-gratin.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Jacques Pépin's Penne Au Gratin. Such is the case for my 14 year old daughter who is going to band camp from 7am until 7pm every day this week. On the blacktop, in direct sun, with her trumpet, being active all day long. Not looking at her phone. For those of you who are fluent in the dramatics of teenage girls you know this means one thing. Tears. Lots of them. Recipe adapted from Essential Pepin. 6 ounces (2-1/4 cup) penne. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour.
Stirring the Pot: Jacques Pépin's Crepes {Lovingly Known As Rolled Pancakes}
http://mykentuckyhome-kim.blogspot.com/2015/08/jacques-pepins-crepes-lovingly-known-as.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Jacques Pépin's Crepes {Lovingly Known As Rolled Pancakes}. Crepes always bring a smile to my face. They remind me of one of my favorite memories. Memories of sleepovers with my very best childhood friends. Unforgettable memories. Those late nights full of silliness and endless laughter and those lazy mornings spent sitting at the kitchen table. Adapted from Essential Pepin. 3/4 cup all-purpose flour. 3 tablespoons butter, melted. 1-1/2 teaspoons canola oil. I Heart Cooking Clubs.

Sunday, May 17, 2015. Jacques Pépin's Crab Cakes In Red Sauce. Once again it's time for our Mystery Box Madness. Over at I Heart Cooking Clubs. We are to chose three ingredients from the list and cook a recipe from one of these chefs. I chose to cook with. I can't wait to get in the kitchen and cook his recipes each week. Crab Cakes In Red Sauce.

Unfortunate: October 2013

In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed. Monday, October 28, 2013. Such a lovely view! I was very impressed with this guy. I have never seen someone like this in NYC and that is saying something. These globes were surrounding the Boston Commons area. I don't know what they were for, but I really liked them! Starting our journey walking the Freedom Trail. Of course we went through a couple of cemeteries. It is such a peaceful place to be. Friday, October 18, 2013. My favo...

In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed. Thursday, August 21, 2014. Strom King Art Center - New York. Went to the Storm King Art Center. I had never heard of this before I had gone, but it is about an hour away from NYC and has small to large sculptures just chilling outside that you can walk around and see. I really enjoyed the scenery and some of interesting pieces of art. I liked this sculpture. This is actually made of wood and really cool close up. At Home and Abroad.

Unfortunate: May 2014

In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed. Thursday, May 29, 2014. NYC - Empire Hotel. Inside the lobby of the Empire Hotel. I decided to have a little staycation for a night just for a little something different. The style of the hotel is very masculine, but the beds were comfy and we had a good view. The only problem is that the bathrooms are tiny! If you want to be able to get ready in your bathroom not going to happen! View from the roof top. View from the street.
Chef-on-the-run: French Toast with Marraqueta
http://chef-on-the-run.blogspot.com/2015/06/french-toast-with-marraqueta.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. French Toast with Marraqueta. The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight.". And that's my humble opinion! Mummy would be furious because we'd break off chunks and start eating it even before she had paid for the lot. I must add that there were days when we would carry the butter dish with us too! Absolutely, crazy about fresh-from-the-oven, hot bread! But to come back to marraqueta French Toa...
Brenana Bread: Windowsill Herb Garden
http://brenanabread.blogspot.com/2012/03/windowsill-herb-garden.html
Cooking Adventures in a Tiny Ass Kitchen! Monday, March 19, 2012. Well friends, I was going to wait a little longer to post this, but I'm just too excited! A few weekends ago I visited Nichole and we bought seeds to plant windowsill herb gardens. The seeds went into the pellets a week ago today and a few days ago they started sprouting! I can't wait until I have enough Basil to make pesto. Mmm! They're planted in a Jiffy Windowsill Greenhouse. You can get one here. March 24, 2012 at 8:30 AM. It's funny h...
Brenana Bread: July 2012
http://brenanabread.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Cooking Adventures in a Tiny Ass Kitchen! Monday, July 23, 2012. I made these a few months ago when my mom gave me some fresh rhubarb from the garden. I had to figure out what to make with a bunch of rhubarb. I was going to go with the traditional rhubarb crisp, but I decided to do muffins instead! The Greek yogurt in this recipe makes the muffins turn out really moist. I like to think it makes them a little healthier, too. :). 1 teaspoon baking soda. 1 cup plain Greek yogurt. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Brenana Bread: February 2012
http://brenanabread.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Cooking Adventures in a Tiny Ass Kitchen! Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Creamy Portabella Mushroom Penne. I love mushrooms. Love them. I love mushrooms so much that I've been known to saute a whole package of them and eat them for a snack. This Mushroom Dill Pasta. Recipe caught my eye on Pinterest. But I'm not a big fan of dill, so here is my version. It's a quick and easy weeknight meal. And one medium white onion. I added about a teaspoon each of basil, oregano, and parsley. Monday, February 27, 2012.
