The population of Mykines is about 10 to 15, although there are about 40 houses on the island. 60 years ago the population of Mykines was 160 to 180. There is a school on the island, which was built in 1894 and a church that was built in 1879. The summer months bring more people to the island, with both locals and foreigners visiting.

The new boat has also made it possible toÂ. Provide tours around the islands, by requests. The boat is of the type Sigur and is built in Iceland in 2013. It is 13 meters long and 5.3 meters across. The engine is a Volvo penta with a maximum speed of 22 knots. Sailing time to Mykines is 40min.

Summer houses and apartments. What to do in a day. Víkar is one of the two abandoned villages on the isle of Vagar. Víkar was founded in 1833 and belonged to the village of Gásadalur.
