I showed turned up at the 10th floor break room just as Pulitzer Prize Winner David Maraniss was about to talk about his book. Rome 1960: The Olympics that Changed the World.

mylibyear: December 2007

In which our bibliophile records his attempt to go an entire calendar year without buying books and (mostly) library related miscellany. Sunday, December 30, 2007. Though my year of not buying books does not officially start until the New Year, today I got a head start. Several coworkers have recently recommended the David Maraniss biography of Vince Lombardi,. When Pride Still Mattered. And so I defied tradition, placed the book back on the shelf and checked out a copy from the library on my walk home.

mylibyear: It's a bit like gardening

http://www.mylibyear.blogspot.com/2008/06/its-bit-like-gardening.html

In which our bibliophile records his attempt to go an entire calendar year without buying books and (mostly) library related miscellany. Saturday, June 14, 2008. It's a bit like gardening. One of the unintended consequences of not buying books for a year is that I have not kept up with the books I currently own. To that end I spent the evening listening to a truly atrocious Brewers game while I dusted, reordered and reshelved my books. It may sound boring, but it was actually a relaxing and welcome c...

Rat Trap: April 2008

http://rattrap.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

The World According to Carp. Friday, April 18, 2008. I woke up about 5:30 this morning to noise and shaking and figured it was an earthquake. I live in Oregon, you're thinking, so big fat deal. The funny thing is I was asleep at my mom's house in South Boston, Ind., when this happened. When I got up this morning, I asked Mom, "Was there an earthquake last night? So I guess whatever excuses Mom may use for not moving West, fear of earthquakes can't be one of them. Posted by Little Ginger. By the way, thes...

http://rattrap.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

The World According to Carp. Saturday, May 31, 2008. Headed in the right direction. Michael's dad and stepmom, John and Janet, graciously did pretty much all the work. They own a numnber of properties and are old hat at kicking out jobs like this. Next up is assembling the IKEA furniture, hanging stuff on the walls and hemming a pair of curtains left over from our Albuquerque place that will give the room a spot of color. Only seven weeks (at the most) to go! Posted by Little Ginger. Friday, May 30, 2008.

The World According to Carp. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Today also marked Lenore's first outing into the real world, with a trip to a kids' consignment shop in the neighborhood and coffee and scones at our favorite coffee shop, Lovecup. Later we're heading to the farmers market. Posted by Little Ginger. Monday, July 21, 2008. My best blog topic ever. The World According to Carp. Saturday, October 04, 2008. Lenore had her first trip to the zoo this week. We wanted to see the baby elephant, Sam, and the baby Visayan warty pigs. The World According to Carp. Thursday, September 25, 2008. This is from a trip to Detroit Lake a couple of weeks ago. Lenore has been doing lots more cooing and smiling lately but is getting wise to the video camera and tends to clam up when we break it out. Posted by Little Ginger. Tuesday, September 02, 2008. You've probably figured by now that the blog is way on the back burner, but I'd say I have a VERY good excuse. This photo makes me smile, so thought I should share it. Posted by Little Ginger.

The World According to Carp. Saturday, November 29, 2008. Sorry it has been soooooooooooo long since I've posted, and it's not likely to pick up much in the near future. I'm even behind these days on uploading photos from the camera - these are about a month and a half old! In these pics, Lenore is wearing my nearly 42-year-old pajamas; you can't really tell, but there's a little duck on there. Don't give up on me just yet! Posted by Little Ginger.
