Our journey to adoption and the misconceptions of it all. April 7, 2012. Posted by Connected Through Love under Adoption. Friday morning I was at work and my cell phone rang. The caller ID showed the name of our adoption social worker and my heart started beating so fast it felt like it was going to bust out of my body. I answered it and when she asked if I had a few minutes to talk I said yes and ran into a conference room for some privacy. To her due that any one of those rings or dings could be her!

It started off as my place to vent my frustrations about my family, the ups and downs of the adoption process and the misconceptions many people have about adoption. Tuesday was my 35th birthday and I got the best gift ever – I became a mom! C met with her birth parent counselor and signed her surrenders, finally making it official. Four generations: my dad (Gary), my aunt (Becky), my son (Harrison), me (Laura), my mom (Bobbi) and my grandpa (Ernie). Happy 70th birthday to my parents! I had the distinct pleasure of throwing a surprise birthday party or rather, conning my aunt into doing so for both of my parents. My dad turned 70 in May and my mom will be 70 this week. Sunday, December 19, 2010. I really am back and a giveaway. So, the U.S. House voted to extend tax cuts and unemployment benefits. Good news for many, but would it be too much to ask for them to also add 6 more hours onto a day? I mean.there really are not. Then, I see this and I think 2 things:. 1) I'm so grateful. 2) It's all worth it. My adorable sister-in-law and her adorable family sent us an equally adorable onesie soon after we brought her home and it was oh-so-appropriate:. Be announced soon after.
