My Little Home and Garden

9728; Sunlit Sunday. Sunday, May 7, 2017. Spring is popping up around here. It's been cool and damp, but flower are blooming in the garden and I love that! Back to blooms. It seems to me that the small amount of effort it takes to plant bulbs one fall is disproportionate to the amount of delight they offer for years to follow. Tulilps. My fondness for them likely comes from a childhood in Ottawa and the annual Tulip Festival. A touch of blue. Sunny blooms in the backyard. Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

My Little Home and Garden: July 2014

http://mylittlehomeandgarden.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

9728; Sunlit Sunday. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Another rainfall today is no doubt helping my tomato plants grow more productive and allowing the weeds to get an even stronger toehold in the garden beds. It will be a good day to get some things done indoors. Elsewhere, the dipladenia is adding plenty of colour. A little cosmos was added to the garden mix this year. More would have been better. A mass of them dancing in the summer breeze would have been very pretty. Posted by: My Little Home and Garden.

My Little Home and Garden: August 2015

http://mylittlehomeandgarden.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

9728; Sunlit Sunday. Monday, August 3, 2015. Petals, Project and Purl. This summer has been zipping by, with an unusual mixture of cool and hot, humid days. Last night, a couple of thunder storms passed through. The garden is looking a bit straggly, but there are still colours to enjoy. What, pray tell, is a good way to keep weeds from springing up between patio bricks? I have a hearty crop of them that need attention! Have a wonderful week. Posted by: My Little Home and Garden. My Little Home and Garden: February 2015

http://mylittlehomeandgarden.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

9728; Sunlit Sunday. Saturday, February 28, 2015. 9728;Sunlit Sunday: Week 9. More colour. That's what I've been craving lately, so treated myself to an African violet to live in a favourite pottery container. My mother had a knack for keeping hers in bloom, but I've not had the same luck over the years. I'll try paying more attention this time! Some of you have been showing photos of what is springing up in your garden. I'll have to save this bulb to plant in mine come autumn. Saturday, February 21, 2015.

My Little Home and Garden: Long Time No See

http://mylittlehomeandgarden.blogspot.com/2015/04/long-time-no-see.html

9728; Sunlit Sunday. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Long Time No See. Blogging has taken a back seat to other things, but it's time to dive in and join with Judith for Mosaic Monday. The photos are from awhile ago, when nothing but snowdrops were outdoors and crocuses bloomed inside. An amaryllis flower joined them, months after Christmas. With weather fluctuations, comfort food in the form of whole wheat buns, cinnamon twirls and post-Easter French pea soup filled the house with good aromas. Have a lovely week.

the weathered pane: An Uncommon Juneau Summer

http://theweatheredpane.blogspot.com/2013/06/an-uncommon-juneau-summer.html

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Tuesday, June 18, 2013. An Uncommon Juneau Summer. Summer in Juneau is typically, shall we say, wet? I read in the paper the other day that the average temp for Juneau in June is 62 degrees. For the past couple weeks it's been in the high 70's AND 80's! Our skin. Our brain. Our bodies. Good weather in Juneau is iffy on a good year. So when the sun comes out, so do the people! Today I...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, October 3, 2011. I'm going to be warm this winter! Woo hoo Woo hoo! That's me, doing the happy dance! For years, my hubby and I have had discussions of an alternative heat source for the house. When we moved into this house, there was electric heat and a Monitor stove. We knew we wouldn't be using electric heat and the Monitor was old and not efficient. Look at him go! This i...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Sunday, April 28, 2013. I lied when I posted on the 22nd that we were well on our way to Spring. Well, we're well on our way to SOMETHING. but it isn't Spring! This weekend brought 6" of new snow and today it's seriously snowing some more. ENOUGH ALREADY! But look at this. even the slugs are confused! Saturday, April 27, 2013. In the midst of all this sadness and worry that seems to ...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Friday, August 26, 2011. Six Weeks to Winter. Summers come and go quickly here in Juneau. It just seems that we're at the height of it, enjoying it, having a great time, and next thing it's over. We're in pure joy when the firewood looks like this:. It's beautiful, isn't it? It means we're in the middle of summer, we're having a good time, days are joyous, and life is good. We're alw...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, June 17, 2013. There's nothing quite like the first taste of the season of fresh King Salmon. Melt.in.your.mouth.good. With oils oozing out of the flesh, onto the plate, ready to be wiped up with a piece of French bread. Yep, eating at its finest. Then the waiter stopped at our table and asked how it was. do I dare say, "overcooked"? I stumbled for a second, then I stuck my f...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Monday, June 24, 2013. Today I Turn 61. I really don't much care for birthdays. I'm not one of those who will celebrate all week long. It's not that I hate getting older because I don't. I just don't like being the center of attraction. No But that's neither here nor there. Being 61 is okay. My son gets a fire going in the pit. We're hoping the smoke will keep the bugs away. I became...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Friday, July 29, 2011. We've been having a lot of rain this week, real Fall weather. So it seemed like a good time to make a batch of seafood chowder. If you know me, a "batch" isn't a small pot, perfect for the two of us for a meal. It means a large stock pot, maybe even overflow, perfect for sayyyyyy 10-12 people! Then I skipped a couple steps and now you see the bacon frying.

Cedarmere in the Blue Ridge: Sunlit Sunday -- Brilliant Colors

Cedarmere in the Blue Ridge. Saturday, February 22, 2014. Sunlit Sunday - Brilliant Colors. ISLAND IN THE SUN. I was in Key West, Florida, a few days ago for the first time. What a picturesque little ocean town! Everything about this quaint boisterous island in the sun is starkly different from our quiet refuge in Free Union, VA. I can't resist sharing with you some pictures of beautiful homes there. These photos are perfect for Karen's. Cedarmere Farm, Free Union, Virginia - 2013. By contrast, in. Febru...

If these panes could talk, what would they say about the family that lived inside? Living the cottage life, Alaskan style! Friday, February 15, 2013. Yes, I know that Valentine's Day is over for another year but I've been giving it a lot of thought these past few weeks and it's still on my mind. My parents had a rough marriage. They seemed so unhappy and miserable and you often wondered why they stayed married. They fought something horrible and often times it was ugly. Sunday, February 10, 2013. What I ...
