MYM urged to spread Jihad against poverty and suffering. The Muslim Youth Movement must continue to apply the definition of Jihad by doing more to alleviate the scourge of poverty, inequality and the exploitation of the poor, the MYM was told at its Gauteng re-launch held recently at the University of Johannesburg. Alan is the BBC correspondent who was abducted 100 days ago in Gaza by an unknown group called "Army of Islam". The abduction is cowardly, disgusting and does the Palestinian cause no good. The Muslim Youth Movement (MYM) of South Africa played a critical role in the development of Islamic thought in South Africa in the latter part of the 20th century. Motivated by the values and ideology of Islam as embodied in the Holy Qur’an and the life of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the organisation maintained a commitment to an Islam that is responsive and relevant to the South African socio-political context.
