Stopping the fuel leak | My MGB GT Blog
https://mymgbgt.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/stopping-the-fuel-leak
Repairing and Restoring Sandy, a 1971 MGB GT. My MGB GT Blog. Stopping the fuel leak. Having acquire some fuel resistant o-rings, I can now put the carbs back together. Seems quite a bit of trouble for something so small. The new o-ring with the mangled remains of the old, a definite difference! Now to put it all back together. Now to put both of the SU’s back on Sandy and get her running again. I’d better fix that…. Tropical MGs →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. My 63 Daimler V8.

Repairing and Restoring Sandy, a 1971 MGB GT. My MGB GT Blog. Running like a Charm. It has been a while since I have taken Sandy out for a spin but today I took her out for a quick jaunt around the neighbourhood, mostly to blow out some of the cobwebs but also to test the ingenious heat shielding my wife discovered. Now that she is running again, I noticed that the cabin gets uncomfortably hot, particularly around the feet. I am happy to report that it was quite successful and the drive was quite pleasan...

Repairing and Restoring Sandy, a 1971 MGB GT. My MGB GT Blog. As a person who has always had the initials MG I have had a love affair with the LBC (Little British Car) that shared those letters with me. After many years of unrequited love I have finally reached a time where I can devote at least some time to this special marque that has always had my interest (it’s either that or I reached my mid life crisis! 3 Responses to “About”. Repairing and Restoring Sandy, a 1971 MGB GT. My MGB GT Blog. Last trip before the Wet. Today the MGCCNT had its last outing before the wet season sets in leaving us all hot, sweaty and awaiting for fungal blooms to break out across seats and dashboards as the 90% humidity. We headed out to Darwin River Dam a water catchment area about an hour south of Darwin. Meeting at Coolalinga four of Abingdons finest gathered. We had two hard tops and two roadsters and not a single red car in sight! My 63 Daimler V8.

Repairing and Restoring Sandy, a 1971 MGB GT. My MGB GT Blog. I’d better fix that…. Took Sandy out for a run on Saturday morning and when I come back had an very strong petrol smell, it must’ve been strong because even my wife said I should do something about the smell of petrol on the garage! Removing both of the twin SU’s so I could have a better look. What it turned out to be was the the connections between the jet tube and the fuel bowl. For such a small washer it could potentially cause a big problem.

My obsession with reinvigorating vintage vehicles is extended to a 1948 BSA. New to the Library. The rebuild begins →. Finally at the end or is that the start? August 29, 2010. After an unforced hiatus due to the inconclusive Federal election, where I was an unsuccessful candidate, I finished stripping the Beesa down into her component parts so the rebuild can begin. Now it is time to start rubbing down, prepping, respraying and rebuilding first things first the frame. New to the Library. BSA C Group Page.

Turning a 63 Daimler into an International Rally Car! My 1963 Daimler 2.5L V8. More on Door Panels. Making the new door panels has been fairly straight forward with and I thought I might share how I have done it. The doors were in pretty bad shape with moisture, dirt and time taking their toll on the flimsy old fibre board card. The interiors were virtually non-existent having been rotted away. So to put a temporary replacement into place, lightweight, cheap and expedient for the rally. Trim it all to si...

Turning a 63 Daimler into an International Rally Car! My 1963 Daimler 2.5L V8. Archive December, 2011. So all kitted up, I tried my first double flare and it turned out alright. So I am now in the process of refitting what seems like metres and metres of brake lines and I am hoping to have it all completed before I return to work! Layers of oil, grease, paint and sound deadener have been removed revealing the original red primer, still in surprisingly good condition. Battening down the hatches.

Turning a 63 Daimler into an International Rally Car! My 1963 Daimler 2.5L V8. I haven’t written anything in a while, have been traveling and working but I thought I might share this gem from Alice Springs airport. A 1920 Alpine Eagle Silver Ghost bought by Connellan Airlines in 1939 and brought to Alice Springs converted to a utility, built in radio communication, tools, chains, dual ignition, dual fuel system, spotlights and even fitted with a gun rack! Simple, elegant, tough and effective.

Turning a 63 Daimler into an International Rally Car! My 1963 Daimler 2.5L V8. Archive February, 2012. Had to take a little time to fix something. Unfortunately I have had to spend some time away from the Big Green Machine over the last few weeks due to a training course last weekend and to deal with some fuel issues with the MGB. Everytime I turned on the fuel pump, petrol poured out of the carbs down over the exhaust manifold, not a good thing. you can read more about it here. My MGB GT Blog.

My obsession with reinvigorating vintage vehicles is extended to a 1948 BSA. Finally at the end or is that the start? The Purchases →. September 17, 2010. It has taken a while but I have now begun painting and rebuilding the Beesa. First the frame. Then the gearbox mounts. Then the top yoke. Stripping down the plungers was a bit more difficult but eventually it came apart. And then it all made sense when it came apart. This entry was posted in Living the dream. Turning a 63 Daimler into an International Rally Car! My 1963 Daimler 2.5L V8. Archive October, 2014. Its been a while since Ive updated how things are going but now that most of the bodywork has been completed (just some grinding and cosmetic work to go) its now time to look back at the engine and gearbox before reinstalling them. My obsession with reinvigorating vintage vehicles is extended to a 1948 BSA. May 25, 2014. Just thought I’d write a quick post to say that i still have the Beesa but it is still spread all around my garage as the other projects (kids, house, family, cars) have taken a higher priority then my vintage two wheeled girl. On the bright side I have managed to get my Bike license, so when I do finally get her running again I can legally take her out for a spin! This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

My obsession with reinvigorating vintage vehicles is extended to a 1948 BSA. Newer posts →. New to the Library. July 13, 2010. I managed to scan the interwebs and found three additions to my library. All of these have been classed as “hard to find” or “out of print”. Now I have some reference materials to begin the restoration process with. I managed to pull some more bits of today, off with the Battery holder, Oil tank and what was left of the gearbox. July 11, 2010. Which contained all this:. After car...

My MGB
Tuesday, June 28, 2011. As many in the US must have noticed by now, the economy is pretty bad. The job market is also rather dismal, which has had an impact on me. It probably wasn't a very good idea to graduate last December, as I have been unemployed since then. In the meanwhile for obvious reasons I won't be working on either of my cars. Just know this: I will be back to work on them, and will do so properly next time (with money and a garage). Check out my other video. Monday, November 22, 2010.
