My Miscellany

Wednesday, 4 April 2018. I had a lovely unexpected surprise birthday present when Mary Lee Dew invited me to be a guest designer for the two blog hops on Serendipity Stamps. This month (the first and third Wednesday). I love their stamps - you may remember the big " And the angel said." sentiment which I used on my mass-production Christmas cards last year. So I was delighted to say yes please, and thank you. Details: I stamped the chipmunk. I used the Marbled Cells. Sentiment a couple of times for depth...

My Miscellany: June 2015

http://mymiscellany-cook22.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 9 June 2015. I was sitting outside late this afternoon enjoying half an hour in the sun; there seemed to be an inordinate amount of noise from the hedge. I took a look round the corner of the house, and was rewarded by seeing these.and a baby robin too! Tuesday, 2 June 2015. Went with a swan. Subscribe to: Posts ( Atom ). View my complete profile. My Miscellany: A Surprise and a Soup

http://mymiscellany-cook22.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-surprise-and-soup.html

Tuesday, 19 May 2015. A Surprise and a Soup. The current photo challenge over on SCS is animals, and I was expecting to find it difficult - apart from people walking their dogs. However, when I walked over to the library on Saturday to pick up a DVD I had reserved, I came across something of a surprise! I also managed to snap a grey squirrel up in the tree tops - it seemed to be pulling all the tender tips off and dropping a lot of them on the ground - not so good for the tree. 2 medium stalks celery.

My Miscellany: May 2015

http://mymiscellany-cook22.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, 24 May 2015. Wicklow in the sun. Yesterday was a beautiful morning, and a warm but not so sunny afternoon. We made the effort to get out of the house quite early, and went for a drive round the Blessington Lakes. And then down Wicklow Gap to Laragh. When we stopped at one of the little car parks just before Laragh, the smell from the gorse was just heavenly! The sunshine really brings it out. Thursday, 21 May 2015. Tuesday, 19 May 2015. A Surprise and a Soup. I also managed to snap a grey squirre...

My Miscellany: March 2015

http://mymiscellany-cook22.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, 26 March 2015. This first project was actually completed before the Spring Wreath, but until it had safely arrived I couldn't share it here. It was great fun to make, and a perfect project for work. This is the only way I could think of to photograph it that would show it all - and it was quite a windy day, so it wasn't an easy task. Sunday, 22 March 2015. In the morning we took a short trip to Farmleigh. Wednesday, 18 March 2015. Hot Off the Needles. And was designed by Frankie Brown. To compl...

My Miscellany: From the Archives 2

http://mymiscellany-cook22.blogspot.com/2015/07/from-archives-2.html

Wednesday, 15 July 2015. From the Archives 2. We were away in France for 3 weeks, and I am still trying to catch up with myself as far as photos go! In the meantime, here are my favourites from the cards I made during the second half of my time on the Dirty Dozen over at Splitcoast. 15 July 2015 at 20:54. Hmmm, unless that chef has a pasta or vegetarian dish there looks like youve got a little animal theme going on. And all so beautiful. Subscribe to: Post Comments ( Atom ). View my complete profile.

Paper Vernissage: April 2015

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Whats This All About. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Snowy Egret and Garage Sale Finds. Did you come all the way here just for the community garage sales today? You drove all that way just to go to some garage sales? Yes, and we got lucky in finding you, Snowy Egret, perched near the side of the road across the refuge. I wonder - were you people-watching? Whatever it was doing, it was very content and calm and just a tad bit wary of the car stopping. I fell in love with this old Christmas card with the beach...

Paper Vernissage: May 2015

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Whats This All About. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Antiques Inside and Out. There's a stretch of little shops in Viking Village and this little antique/gift shop is among them. I find that antique stores are not always the best lit places and this one was no exception relying a lot on the limited amount of outdoor light through the windows. Still there were some very colorful (and clever) vignettes that caught my eye. Some felt ornaments and sealife toys. Old carnival/boardwalk games and whatnot. We weren't a...

Paper Vernissage: ASLEEP, DOWN, CLIMB - Photo Challenge Wrap Up

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015/07/asleep-down-climb-photo-challenge-wrap.html

Whats This All About. Friday, July 31, 2015. ASLEEP, DOWN, CLIMB - Photo Challenge Wrap Up. These next two pictures are taken looking DOWN the hall at school. You can see some detritus still in the hallways, but most of these rooms have been cleaned top-to-bottom and in a couple more weeks the halls will be cleared so the floors there can be stripped and waxed and ready for the new school year. In the hallways you can find several ways to CLIMB - with ladders that are scattered about at this time of year.

Paper Vernissage: June 2015

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Whats This All About. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. It's a Marriage - Jingle Belles and Summer of Color Collide. I think I totally forgot to do my Jingle Belles card for the last challenge two weeks ago. And something luckily stirred me to get this done last night - the Summer of Color Challenge colors for this week actually. I think I managed to marry the two challenges together but let's just check and see. The Jingle Belles said NO DESIGNER PAPER. Do you think I could get away with doing this same card but ...

Paper Vernissage: ICAD 2015 - Week 8

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015/07/icad-2015-week-8.html

Whats This All About. Friday, July 31, 2015. ICAD 2015 - Week 8. I should be finishing this today but our Merry Fishmas party put me a little behind. Who am I kidding - it put me very behind on a number of things, but guess what? It's almost August and there's still lot's of summer left to get these things caught up. Lessons have been learned though. Like the need to limit participation in too many things. Ah, but they are fun, so let me get on with getting on. Day 50 - Kimono. Day 51 - Symmetry. This wa...

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015/08/icad-2015-last-week.html

Whats This All About. Saturday, August 1, 2015. ICAD 2015 - Last Week. I'm finished. All 61 cards done. And only one day past the end of July. So without further ado. Day 57 - Sunrise. I took my rolls of solid colored washi tape and tore them up into little pieces to make my sunrise. Day 58 - Queen of Hearts. Day 59 - Plaid. Day 60 - Advice. I have actually made up some business-size cards with this winged pig and that sentiment. This time I added some printed scrap paper for color. Day 61 - Parachute.

Mami Doodles: Digital Stamps: Tutorial 2: A creative use for the scalloped circle punch

http://mamidoodles.blogspot.com/2012/05/tutorial-2-creative-use-for-scalloped.html

Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Tutorial 2: A creative use for the scalloped circle punch. I love my punches and I am always trying to learn and find uses for my punches. At a crop I learned how to use a corner punch to make a medallion-like shape. It will have to wait, since I don't own any corner punch, but I thought of a way to use a scalloped circle punch as a corner punch. You will need a scalloped circle punch. And a rectangular piece of paper. My punch is a 5cm (2 inch) Woodware punch. What a great idea!

Paper Vernissage: Dare To Get Dirty - Sketchy Thank You

http://papervernissage.blogspot.com/2015/08/dare-to-get-dirty-sketchy-thank-you.html

Whats This All About. Thursday, August 6, 2015. Dare To Get Dirty - Sketchy Thank You. During one of my office visits I mentioned to my doctor that I wasn't looking for "Normal". "Normal is as elusive as a unicorn. It doesn't exist.". Working on one of the challenges this week, I decided to illustrate the second part of my quote - "I'm Happy to Be a Zebra in a Party Hat! At the time of my visit my doctor said he liked that thought and would have to remember it - so I decided to make a card out of it.

Thursday, January 23, 2014. We are grateful that (so far) our kids love school and do really well in their studies. This spring both Morgan and Trevor were recognized for their efforts. With his teacher, Mrs. Olsen. When we were leaving the school there was a little cloudburst passing over. The light and the rainbow it produced was incredible. I couldn't resist a few more pictures! 2nd Annual Mountain Biking in Moab. I love that Ken has some good friends to go mountain biking with! He loves it so much!
