Thoughts from a pastor: October 2013
http://mynclc.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Friday, 11 October 2013. It can be easy to relegate that problem to another country. But this issue has been highlighted by our own Lindsay Bruce as also a North East problem. I challenge you to do an internet search on human trafficking in the UK. It is a problem here and now with us. Teesside's Ben Cooley felt so passionate about this subject that he has set up the charity HOPE FOR JUSTICE to help in the fight. Go to the A21. These ...

Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Friday, 20 March 2015. From the pastor's desk March. Last week I had two texts with questions sent to me from two different people. One of them helped me to really focus down on to a subject and the other caused me to expand my thinking and open up to a subject. Is it about finance? Is it about serving? Is it about attitude? Keep connected to the right people, especially when it gets tough. Be a disciple and disciple others. There you...
Thoughts from a pastor: The impact of growth
http://mynclc.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-impact-of-growth.html
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Friday, 3 October 2014. The impact of growth. Some areas that growth in church will impact-. It should impact my set routines. Very practically, as our service times change we have to adjust our Sunday routine. It should impact my friendships. I have the opportunity to open up my life to new friends. There are so many people in my life now that I did not know before being part of this church. Relational connection with each other.

Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Thursday, 20 March 2014. Getting my house in order. So this last weekend we had the privilege of having Jeff Lestz. But in reality he is a kingdom guy. He is a people guy. He is a freedom guy. He loves God and loves people. He is also a friend, despite his terrible jokes. The first was a reminder of the character of a leader from Paul to Timothy particularly around the issue of money. We need to have our financial house in order.
Thoughts from a pastor: August 2013
http://mynclc.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Friday, 2 August 2013. Tough Mudder No.8. So this morning I am pleased to announce that I managed to run 10.5 miles in a respectable time. The hardest battle was not the hills, the tiredness or the chafing thighs; it was the battle inside my head. Give up or finish the race! I think the next run maybe even harder as I now know the cost of completing it. This time I was ignorant of the pain and the battle in my head.
Thoughts from a pastor: February 2013
http://mynclc.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Thursday, 7 February 2013. Last night was our Team Vision Night and we had the privilege of honouring the hard work and consistency of our good friends Andy and Helen Rose. Their life, with the ups and downs could be summed up by the words "They kept turning up". Here is a glimpse of the rich tapestry of a few lives that connect with the NCLC community. Yet again back to the Roses. Andy has a fantastic brother called Simon, who ca...

Thoughts from a pastor: April 2015
http://mynclc.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Tuesday, 7 April 2015. Not a party political broadcast. It can't have escaped your attention that in the UK we have our general election coming up. We can expect to see more and more picture of babies being kissed by politicians and our airwaves being overrun with political sound bites. If you are like me then by the time the election comes I have enough of it all. But what should our response be to all of this as Christians? I believ...

Thoughts from a pastor
Thoughts from a Pastor. Thoughts from Jon Cook, Senior Pastor of NCLC. Thursday, 3 September 2015. God revealed in us. So this week our news and social media is crowded with images that assault our senses. Pictures of children lying dead on a beach. My mind wants to rush passed them, not to ignore the issue but to lessen the trauma. I have three children and like most parents we picture our own kids there. Like you and I. They were like you and I. If it were us, how would we want to be treated by people&...
